Description

I built this machine as my daughter’s 11th birthday present. She wanted purple so I went with a RGB build in case she tires of purple. I tried to build this machine to be easily upgradable and well rounded. Eventually I plan on upgrading the video card and doubling the RAM. I’ll also probably drop a SATA SSD in it eventually.

I was able to get a stable OC on the 1600x at 4.0ghz with the RAM running at 3066mhz.

Man, and my parents would kick me off the computer and tell me that video games were poisoning my mind. Lucky girl! +1

We enjoy playing together. I have a desk to the left of her’s with an Alienware laptop hooked up to an external monitor. It’s family time ;)

I thought about it but I didn’t want to add to the build time as I was doing it in the middle of the night.

So I have a problem with my build. 1600x, prime x370 motherboard, tridentz 3200 cas14 ram and if I manually set the ram to 3200 in the motherboard it crashes almost instantly in games. It ran for 2 hours at 3066 and 2993.. well I haven't gotten to test it longer than an hour. If I put it on auto in the bios my pc seems to run sluggish. Is this because I'm not overclocking the gpu to about 3.8-3.9ghz? Or does that sound like a bad ram to you

Check what the max RAM speed of the motherboard is and run it at that. If that doesn't work, then you have some faulty RAM or something that I can't confirm. This isn't quite the thread to ask the question -- make your own thread on this problem under "Motherboards". Thank you.

It can be a bit of a delicate dance to get the best performance from your CPU/RAM. I recommend using AIDA64 to stress test your system. At 3200 my system isn’t stable but at 3066 it’s rock solid. Not all MBs are going to be stable at 3200. I doubt you have bad RAM but you may.

Sweet build and a clean setup to match. Love that NZXT combination of parts. This is a wonderful birthday gift for your daughter. You're an awesome Dad! +1

An inappropriate and unacceptable joke.
