Description

Since 2014, i really wanted to build a system with an Asus Maximus Gene VI, loved the color scheme and the size, very compact. So after almost 10 years i did not bother with computers at all, i decided to get it. Had to search very well to get one new in october of 2016 from ebay. I know, it is a z87 chipset, very outdate at this moment but that was what i wanted. After that i got the case (Corsair 350D) in november. A few months later, in march of 2017, got the power supply. At this point i really wanted to get start the build, so i got the Celeron g1840 and a 4gb memory stick along with a 250gb hdd from a laptop. I had to wait until june to get last parts but the most expensive ones. The amazing Asus Geforce GTX Poseidon 1080 Ti (Sadly, the water block is bent), 16gb of Corsair Dominator Platimun, 250gb Samsung Evo 850, 2tb of HDD from Seagate and the be quiet! Shadow rock lp, loved that the fan points towards the window, makes it look pretty cool in my opinion. And now, the last things i want to get would be the ML fans from Corsair and a better processor. I would game but also work with GIS and CAD programs. Sorry my english.

PD: Yes, i will change the Celeron to a 4790k PD2: I am using a tube for the graphic card sag.

Poor CPU. However, I've always wanted to see a horrible CPU, with a fantastic GPU. So any gaming benchmarks?

I will upload the gaming benchmarks soon.

I would have gone with a slightly better cpu and a water cooler for it. BUT, overall nice build. Im sure it will work wonders!

Do you not experience any bottlenecking at all???

I have not had time to play, but it will sure bottleneck. Ill post benchmarks soon.

You know, I wonder how much FPS you would get with some gaming benchmarks with that Celeron and GTX 1080 Ti. But other ways, this is quite an interesting build.

WHAT??? was the reasoning behind the #BIGGESTBOTTLENECKOF2017

  • 1 point

I need the pc to run some stuff early when it was very incomplete, so i got that celeron because of the budget, after it i just got all the other components letting a better CPU as the last part i will get. to get latter maybe in Decembe when i will have actual time to play, but yeah... lots of bottleneck.

  • 1 point

ok I thought that you were always going to use the celeron

  • 1 point

others will say its a bottleneck. great build though.

It does bottleneck. And thank you!

I'm not really sure what to say about this build. I usually like the kind of builds thought for upgrades, but in the case of older components... eh...

But you got what you wanted, so it's fine I guess.

I also kind of wanted to see that. Now that i have it, i know i will have to upgrade eventually.

Bwahaha! That was a great cheer up for a Monday morning. I thought this was a troll build at first, but I read your build notes, so I know it isn't the final form. I really want to see a 3DMark score lol.

It is about 7.5k on the GPU and 1.2k on the CPU lol, i know, it is sad, but will upgrade.

Why not a Celeron 352. over clock it to a frosty 8.3ghz with a snow vacuum pump. I'm sure it's single core will be better than any Intel or Raisin of the current day lol
