This is the first time I've built a PC on my own.
This one was to replace my 10 year old system which a friend built for me. I wanted it to be powerful enough for 1440p gaming. was thinking of waiting for black friday/cyber monday but I jumped the gun...
I went for the Ryzen 5 2600, overclocked it to 4.1Ghz fairly easily (my first time overclocking). I'm at 1.3625 volts which maybe is a bit high compared to others I've seen, but temps are pretty good at the moment. (Edit: I've lowered the clock to 4.0Ghz at 1.35v since)
Managed to get good prices on the ram and graphics card on eBay (the graphics card is 2nd hand).
Very happy with how it turned out. Cable management was so easy, and I really love how clean it looks, managed to hide most wires from sight (except for the ulgy one for the exhaust fan, which is going to go when my Corsair ML fans arrive). The only thing that I'd like to change is the white fans that came with the case. I've used them as intake so they are mostly covered from sight.
I've tried to keep a positive air pressure by having 2 intake fans in the front and my PSU facing upwards to blow air in the case. It probably isn't ideal blowing warm air towards my GPU but I'm quite worried about dust buildup (as I live in a flat in the city, and there's a lot of construction going on at the moment). I've got one exhaust fan (from old build) at the back and my GPU is a blower.
Nothing much else to say except I'm really happy with the build. Best decision to build this one instead of forking out double the money (£2400) on a gaming laptop!
Edit: got a good deal on the samsung 860 evo 2.5 inch ssd, which definitely provided a tangible upgrade to the kingston. Also added an ML120 pro fan for exhaust, and installed the 2 original fractal case fans as front intakes.
Can't complain. Talk about value. Overclocked quite easily to 4.1ghz at 1.3625V, temps are pretty reasonable (73 celsius max after half an hour of prime95) with my Cryorig H7.
Got a good price on ebay (was brand new). Love the RGB as it lights up the motherboard as well. Probably one of the best looking RGB heatsinks? The new Cryorig one with RGB on the fan as well is coming out soon though..
Think it looks cool. Not sure about the VRMs and stuff but allowed me to overclock my Ryzen 5 2600 to 4.1 Ghz at 1.3625v. Has all the ports and stuff I need. No RGB, which i appreciated.
Does what it says. Had to enable XMP with my mobo to use it at displayed speeds. Haven't overclocked it. Think it looks awesome in black without the RGB
can't complain. got a fairly good price (it's come down to 33 pounds now). Windows boots in <15 seconds
This card looks really cool, nicer than the aftermarket ones imo. I managed to get a pretty good price on ebay for a 2nd hand card. It gets pretty hot goes up to 83 celsius after 10 mins of gaming.(Edit: I turned the fans up using NZXT Cam as they were only going up to 80%. Now with fans at max, the highest temps I get are around the 74-75 celsius range. The fans are a bit noisy.) Not sure how it stacks against the other blower cards but I suspect the others are better.
Gorgeous, clean case. Would give it 6 stars. Probably my favourite part of my build. Easy to build and cable manage in, has dust filters where you need them and sound dampening as well. Initially was thinking of the meshify mini instead but that one didn't have a clear tempered glass (it was tinted very dark). Now I think I would have preferred this one over the meshify anyway.
It looks and feels like quality. Read only good reviews about it. Was also considering PSUs from corsair and EVGA. Got the best price with this one, and not disappointed one bit.
Wireless Network Adapter
Really impressed with this card. Get 8-9mb downloads, downloading games from steam. Wifi router is about 12 ft away. Had to use a lan cable to download the driver for the card before it would work though
Beautiful screen at quite an unbelievable price i think. Got it on amazon. Saw the offer and it was too good to be true. It was a pre-order and it was to take 2-3 months to arrive, but it arrived in 3 weeks. Christmas came early!
