Description

My dream when I was little to have a computer computer. almost 12 years of begging parents, saving birthday money, and selling gum in school, to get to this point. I have came to the conclusion that I need to build more gaming pc's and more but this one will suffice for now.

Every part was picked with the utmost uncare. sure the 8350 is good ,but the whole AM3+ chip set is showing it's age , a couple years ago i was fawning over the term OCTA-core. the only part i bought with my own money was the gpu. within the 12 years of saving money i saved a total of 450 bucks. the rest of the parts were gifts. As a 16 year old going on 17 i have found my calling in networking, and joining the national guard to help pay for college etc.. any ways I really like to listen to good sounding music so I plan on getting a dedicated sound-card the on board ones are alright i guess. anything i would change is the MOBO and CPU, i'm looking into X99, not that i need or anything it just the thought of having something high tech.

2 monologues later, I really like questions and feedback

p.s. sorry for the messy environment currently having my room redone. p.s.s. i'm also a tinkerer as seen by some of the later pics, just finished a makeshift NAS build.

PLEASE, look up Tek Syndicate's video about audio myths, and sound cards. You do NOT need one.

Regardless, it looks like a nice build, not sure what the other pics are trying to show.

Lastly, do you REALLY need X99? That is for some serious enthusiasts..are you sure Z97 wouldn't suffice? Either way. Nice build.

I have seen Tek Syndicates video, I guess i'm just used to buying a sound-card due to past computers having very minimal sound capabilities , the whole X99 thing is just my fascination with it, its more a "want than a need", oh and those last picks are just to show my room I guess.

Ahh. Make sure you overclock that 8350. I squeezed 4.5 out of my 8320. (:

If it makes you feel any better, I fantasize about having a 5960x one day.

Nice build! Love the NAS build as well. Also the name.... is it just me or does it spell Dracula backwards. I remember watching Batman vs Dracula as kid and there was that one scene where Dracula goes to Bruce wayne's party and says his name is Dr. Alucard.... Conspiracy, I'm going to go put my tinfoil hat back on...

Thanks, yeah it's Dracula backwards but I got it from a castlevania game on the DS lite. I keep my tinfoil hat on 24/7 haha

if you took that long to save money for this pc, please dont go for a sound card, the improvement is minimal; and neither for x99, your spec choice is near perfect, and again the improvement is not worth the extra cost. Cheers!

are you talking about the cable management, if so, it's not pretty I'm going to need a fully modular PSU. the PSU though good it looked a rat chewed on some of the cables or something, I tried talking with thermal-take but apparently i got the PSU used even though I bought it new, so yeah

Is there enough room to rotate the H90 ninety degrees so that its oriented horizontally in the front of the case? ie. having the tubes on the same side as the window.

  • 1 point

I tried having the tubes on same side of the window when i started building the pc the screw holes don't line up.

What is your boot time off of that card? I am looking at that CPU/mobo/ssd/case/OS combo myself. I baught a quadro from a friend and will use that instead as well as a WD blue because I am not gaming and don't need high spead hdd storage. cool build +1

One Other question. Did you have to update the BIOs of the motherboard?

Nope, No need for bios update.
