Build

First Order Dreadnought

by oR_Chazz

Description

First put this PC together roughly 18 months ago as my first proper gaming computer. Have been adding some aesthetic upgrades since then including:

  • Custom RGB GPU Backplate
  • Custom Fan Grill
  • Red braided cables
  • Custom decal for GPU front plate
  • 5" LCD Screen to monitor temperatures
  • 6 LL120 RGB fans
  • An army of First Order Stormtroopers
  • Lego Tie Silencer

Few peripherals that aren't mentioned include:

  • Drevo Calibur Wireless Keyboard with custom Keycaps
  • Xbox Elite Controller
  • Lucid Sound LS30 Headset

Like most people, I expect that I will upgrade components over the next few years as they become outdated. As it stands, the rig is more than capable of running games at 4K/60fps which is exactly what I wanted.

Really happy with the results now so thought I would share an update post. I know that some of the components might seem like odd choices (mainly my choice of GPU) but I had no idea what I was doing when I first bought them all! Despite that, hope you like the theme of the build!

(For those interested, I have included some more photos which show how the build has developed aesthetically over the last year or so. Really interesting for me to see the first day it was completed vs now! https://imgur.com/a/vuxumpW )

Edit: Awesome to be featured and enjoying reading all your comments. Trying to respond where I can! I have added a few more photos of peripherals and different angles of the build. Some of them are a few months old so there’s some slight variations. Happy to add more if requested!

How many fps per storm trooper?

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 9 points 3 months ago

By my calculations, roughly 1.82...

jesuskun1 5 points 3 months ago

shot hit/shot taken=fps

Benstein 8 points 3 months ago

So 0? 0/100 is 0

sslb5075 -9 points 3 months ago

0/100 is an infinite number so basically it has unlimited fps :)

Hobie12345 2 points 3 months ago

No 0/100 is 0. Not so hot.

Love the build though.

sslb5075 0 points 3 months ago

Lol no it's not, look it up...

Its considered indeterminate, but some calculators say zero.

bgunn925 4 points 3 months ago

Can you PLEASE link the 5" screen and any mounting gear you used? I have a 460x and would like to do that exactly! Thank you!

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

I used this YouTube tutorial:

https://youtu.be/RcNJA6V4tNY

Bought this screen:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M4KO567?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

And mounted to the PSU shroud using a couple sticky pads and a zip tie as an anchor. Not the most secure, but does the job!

My advice would be to buy a low profile HDMI cable and a screen that is powered by the HDMI alone.

bgunn925 2 points 3 months ago

Thank you! It looks better in your build than in the tutorial!

Javild27 1 point 3 months ago

If the cables are facing the right can I just turn the screen around?

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Of course. It’s quite straight forward to rotate the screen to whatever angle you need using your OS. I’m guessing Windows?

Javild27 1 point 3 months ago

Yes, thank you

Javild27 0 points 2 months ago

Is the screen bright enough to be seen through the glass of a tinted glass panel like the one on the Corsair 500D?

DRogGTX 3 points 3 months ago

Awesome build, +1

DRogGTX 4 points 3 months ago

Congrats on the feature!

Zosto 8 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

I am not a fan os star wars, but is perfect in the theme. very well done.

IngeniousTinkerer 3 points 3 months ago

I'm guessing you've played Star Wars Battlefront II on it. Right?

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

But of course! Looks glorious! I just wish I was better at the game... Maybe I really was born to be a Stormtrooper!

IngeniousTinkerer 2 points 3 months ago

Do you have a favorite class/loadout?

SirHalpin 1 Build 3 points 3 months ago

fantastic build. looks like someone was downvoting everyone else's comments, probably to get their to the top, i tried to fix what i could. Nice choice of parts, theme really pulled together nicely +1

Nokor 4 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Nah.. you don't like Star Wars AT ALL.. ;) ;)

I love this. The use of red in all the right places just makes it pop. And that fan grill is awesome!

KaptainKris1 1 Build 2 points 3 months ago

Great build but you gotta be a huge star wars enthusiast to make something like this :)

Good Job

slaplante 2 points 3 months ago

I really like the desk lamp you have on you desk. Where did you get it?

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

I can’t find the exact one but this one is pretty close:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F263256890824

You just need to buy the biggest LED Edison bulb you can find!

AC1DFOX 5 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

WOW!!! Just WOW! I love the little details. There is love in that machine. So cool.

DominicBoccella 2 points 3 months ago

were did you get that plant in the last picture. Also great build

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I actually made it! I found the X Wing model from my childhood when moving and thought it would look great in a terrarium.

I bought the “vase” on Amazon and a Terrarium kit on eBay. Threw in some fake red moss because, you know, the theme and voila!

Sayliex 1 Build 2 points 3 months ago

Hey, I remember seeing this on Room Tour Project by RandomFrankP. You've done some good improvements since then, I see. Nice job, man! Your time and dedication has paid off!

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks man! Yeah love Frank for sharing my set up a few months ago!

AC1DFOX 5 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Your right RAM Shield isnt on straight in one of the pics.

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Good spot. Sorted that now.

andxTTV 2 points 3 months ago

Steelbawng 2 points 3 months ago

shoulda got a titan xp starwars edition

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

If I’d know that such a thing existed when I was putting the build together, I would have one!

Unfortunately I didn’t know a great deal about building a PC when I got the components!

weasleyawesome52 5 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

i love the terrarium!

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Thanks man!

RoyalSovereign 2 points 3 months ago

Kisalida 2 points 3 months ago

Can you call it the first order if there's an empire logo on the fan? haha just kidding! An amazing build who made the fan cover for you?

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I found the listing on eBay so might be worth checking out his store:

ZaSeaDog 1 point 3 months ago

WoW, is this how you get sponsored?

JCMsergox 4 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

That is amazing. I remember buying a lot of Star Wars Legos when I was a kid.

oofer15 1 point 3 months ago

Builds with this amount of devotion are always eye candy. empire strikes back or the force awakens was the best star wars movie

HellRaizrRod 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Nice!

TechTuberTV 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

saw this on reddit too. amazing

darkxm 1 point 3 months ago

Holy cow! AMAZING build! just wondering - did you get the back plate/fan grills from V1tech?

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

The backplate was from V1 but the fan grill was from a guy in Greece who prints them!

darkxm 2 points 3 months ago

interesting! Is the guy who does fan grills still doing them?

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I’ve linked the item below so might be worth having a look if you live in the EU and the postage isn’t too expensive:

I'm laughing but in such a good way! This is epic. Not only the pc is a great build, the Corsair RAM looks nice in there. But the entire Star Wars theme is epic, right down to the backplate, and the x-wing in your plant. I love it! Congrats on the feature! +10!!!

freindlybuild 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

you Sr have took this to a whole new level. I think you may be a true storm trooper indeed. great work +1

XeroDahwn 1 point 3 months ago

Homie got skills. Beautiful theme build.

Javild27 1 point 3 months ago

Hello, Amazing build, how do you connect the small screen? can you give me the link for the display and the RGB backplate? Thank you, it looks amazing

EliteL0jik 1 point 3 months ago

So, do you like Star Wars?

XD Probably one of the best themed builds I have seen. I've been considering putting in a stat monitoring screen exactly like the one you have here (when I get around to building my pc). My question is, what did you have to do to connect the HDMI cable? Did you have to run it back outside of the case to plug it into the GPU? or is there another way?

+1

WaterTriber 1 point 3 months ago

super cool and congrats on the feature! +1

sponix 6 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Power Supply doesn't match the Quality of the rest of the build for sure. $700 GPU, and 50 cent Power Supply to drive it.

EVGA G3, Corsair RMX, Seasonic Prime. Check Jonnyguru for Power Supply Reviews and please get something of higher quality for your system.

Thanks for Sharing !!

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

As you can see from the first photo here, the power supply is a Corsair RM 750X. I must have selected the wrong one when choosing the parts on this site.

https://imgur.com/a/vuxumpW

My mistake!

sponix 6 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

That helps me sleep better at night :)

rogdog56 1 point 2 months ago

Wow, I love this build.

rogdog56 1 point 2 months ago

Is that monitor good or should I go with 1080p 144hz? never 4k gamed before and am using 1070. I dont mind going to medium settings or putting resolution down in game

Pawcoyote 1 point 2 months ago

Hi, awesome build... Question did you update the parts for everything you have added since you built it initially? I see you are using the CAM software how is that working for you?

Again wicked pissah!!

AscensionGaming 1 point 2 months ago

Hope this beauty runs better than a Stormtrooper can shoot XD fab looking build mate

SpecialHook 1 point 2 months ago

Hey dude can I ask you question ? The LL fans when you open your system did they open in the Rainbow Wave ? or the one you saved ? cause I have LL fans and I should open ICUE to get my saved lighting back . and what a great build btw !

Zap_m7 1 point 1 month ago

What is the mother board?

mbins 1 Build 1 point 23 days ago

Love it!

Squid_Soup -1 points 3 months ago

Anyone hear about what happened to TechSource?

oofer15 3 points 3 months ago

yeah, sad to see that he can do the giveaway or the 15k pc anymore, I was wondering why he wasn't uploading part 2 of that. the aforementioned incident was likely the cause. also sad to see that his personal gaming rig was taken too, the one that took like 3 or 4 episodes to complete

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I originally saw the idea on this YouTube video:

https://youtu.be/RcNJA6V4tNY

Might be worth starting there! If you have any questions, let me know! My advice would be to get a screen that can be powered by HDMI alone and get a low-profile or ribbon HDMI cable to run out the back of the case.

oR_Chazz submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Haha, the terrarium? I actually made it so can’t give you somewhere to buy one! All I can say is that I had the X Wing from my childhood, bought the geometric vase from amazon and a terrarium kit on eBay.

You could probably make one yourself for ~£30.

I took a load of moss from my parents garden and bought some fake red moss to tie it in with the build as well.

Have a look at the X Wing Hot Wheels. They should be the right size!
