Description

Ryzen is Here! The 1800X is a beast! Low ram overclocking is a bummer but the system still kicks a$$! ..back in 2017/2018. Machine still rocks in 2019!

Awesome/Overkill: Samsung 970 M.2 512 GB. Used to have a EVGA 1200W P2 Ti power supply but down graded to a EVGA BQ 850W I had lying around. Did water cooling for a bit but ended up with reliable air cooling with a mild OC. Upgraded from the RX 480/580 8GB, then a Radeon Vega FE, and then tested crossfire blower RX Vega 64s. The Vega FE was in a pain to maintain in game mode. Drivers were a major issue. The RX Vega in crossfire weren't practical for gaming. Stuck with one beasty Zotac AMP GTX 1080Ti and a MSI X370 XPOWER Ti GAMING Mobo.

eh stuff: slow and old large capacity HDDs but they are fine for what I use them for (not on parts list), the Crucial MX550 512GB SSD (could be a little faster but its plenty fast for me), the EVGA BQ 850W power supply is Bronze rated (had it lying around so I used it), Fractal Design Define S (Solid Case that won't break the bank. Fancy enough for me).

+1 For using Ryzen. After bios updates and some bugs worked out, Ryzen will be epic.

This is true. It is evident with the motherboard makers. Hopefully things will continue to improve. Intel needs competition.

How do you rate this motherboard? Would you recommend? I have already bought a ryzen 1700 and can't decide on a motherboard.

I got one, happy enough with it. Apparently the owners of the Crosshair 6 are... Less pleased.

I got 99 problems, but a bricked mobo ain't one.

It's a good mobo but you can get one that is the same or better for less. Gamers Nexus has a great review on the MSI x370 Ti. I went with it because at the time the Hero 6 had a bunch of issues and was out of stock.

Great build, but were there any issues with the 3200 mhz RAM, needing you to lower it in bios, or did it work at 3200 mhz? (Own this mobo, putting together a build later this month, would like to know if 3200 mhz would work after the horror stories I've been hearing on forums)

Sorry for the late reply. Just moved and finally got my stuff. I hope you didn't use the ram i did. I only got 2400 MHz @ 1.296V with it. I tried 2666 MHz and gave up at 1.376V. The computer would boot but crash soon after.

I did get the RAM to work at 2666 MHz @ 1.392 V. I gave up on 2933 MHz once I crossed 1.5V

50-65C idle/min use, low 80s under load with a 3.9GHz OC. It works but there are better solutions
