Description

first build, I like building things, my wife is mad my system gets more attention with me swapping out parts than she gets.

atleast it loves me..

I recommend becoming a best buy elite member, only because you get 45 days to return things, I started with a RTX 2070, brought it back after i saved money for a 2080, then brought that back and got a 2080ti after i saved more money haha, then eventually got the other 2080ti. The 2nd one is honestly unnecessary for me, im hoping games start to utilize DX12 mGPU more but its the addict in me when i get on a kick i want to do the best I can do. Better than drugs kids!

I enjoy looking at everyone elses builds so I thought i might as well share mine, maybe some will appreciate it as I do theirs. Thanks guys!

I better get back to my wife before I get castrated now...

**EDIT RECENTLY MY ORIGINAL 2080TI WHICH HAD MICRON MEMORY DIED AFTER 5 OR 6 MONTHS, I GOT BEST BUY TO TAKE IT BACK ON STORE CREDIT AS THEY ARENT BUYING GAMGING X TRIO 2080TI ANY LONGER. THE GUY SAID NO AT FIRST UNTIL TALKING FURTHER HE TOLD ME HIS PC WAS BROKE, AND DESCRIBED HIS ISSUE, I THOUGHT HE NEEDED A BIOS UPDATE ON HIS MOBO. I SAID TOO BAD YOU DON'T HAVE IT WITH YOU, I BET I COULD FIX IT, THEN HE PULLS IT FROM UNDER THE COUNTER AND SAYS HA IF YOU CAN FIX IT ILL RETURN THE CARD FOR YOU, WE HAVE ALL LOOKED AT IT. WELL TURNS OUT I WAS RIGHT, BEST PART IS I HAD THE EXACT BIOS UPDATE ON MY KEYCHAIN FLASH DRIVE hahahahahahaha

I mean... OP did spend about $3500 more than what it takes to build a great computer--not including the dual 2080 Ti setup.

I can see why wife would be angry.

In context, that would have bought a great 1080p machine and two weeks in Bali.

I can feel the GPU thermal issues

SLI open air cards have enough issues when they have case airflow, much less no airflow and right beside each other

Nah not bad at all i have a fan mounted on top of the case and right at the back of the cards to blow air through, on full load the hotter card is about 75 while the front card is about 65c.

absolutely not trying to be rude or criticize, but you could've bought 4 team force 1TB 2.5" RGB ssd's for $100 each, saving $200

I have heard the rgb'S in the SSD's heat up and make them slow down to the point they wont boot - also way slower than M.2

  • 1 point

that may be true, but with the proper cooling system, they should be fine, and they're much cheaper than the m.2, and has more storage

Going for a very similar build - yours looks awesome and I bet Is cheaper to run than the spouse - Regarding the two M.2 drives, do get full speed transfers on both? I read somewhere that if more than one M.2 is populated that is can reduce the speed for both?

if you have 2 populated it just turns your last x16 pcie (3rd from top) which isnt really an x16 but the size of one anyway, it makes it run in x2 instead of x4, it just uses PCIE lanes as far as my knowledge lets me know. I just know theyre super fast and didnt notice any difference when populating the second slot (thats what she said) .

How did you pull of the SLi with that case? im using the thermaltake Extender cables but notice they want me to install in PCie slots 1,3
