So after the chapter on my 2010 AMD Phenom II 965 had come to a close, I started doing research into building a PC back in 2018. The original build was going to be an 8700k/1070Ti. Well after getting deployed out of the blue, I had to put it on pause in early 2019 until I got back a few months later. Most of the components were purchased via discount hunting online while overseas.
The last of the major components were bought in November and that's when I finally got it built. The computer has been a dream to build and work with.
The Evolv X case makes cable management a breeze and looks fantastic. The 3800x is snappy and runs very cool under the x62. EVGA came through when my 2070S randomly killed itself, and the RMA process was super easy. Lastly the monitor was purchased when it first released and is amazing to play on.
Overall I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! Please feel free to ask any questions you might have, or offer up any thoughts of wisdom to this young Padawan!
Awesome CPU! Manage to pick one up for the price of a 3700x. Haven't done much in the way of OC since it boosts to 4.4GHz with ease.
Super easy to install and setup. Keeps the 3800X running cool and the fans a quiet. Even the CAM software isn't that bad (even though it gets a lot a shade thrown it's way).
Does it's job!
Got the board on sale through Microcenter. Way overkill for my needs, but the board is gorgeous and full of features. BIOS is really easy to navigate to overclock your RAM and CPU.
What can I say, the RAM looks amazing and does it's job. Was able to OC them slightly and get the timings tightened to 16-19-19-36.
Super fast NVMe, bought on sale and have had zero issues!
Bought on sale when I originally was planning on going with a spinner or 2.5". Does it's job as a mass storage.
Prolly overkill for my needs, as I did just fine with a 1070Ti while this was getting RMA'd (not a knock on EVGA). Have the card OC'd with a 3DMark TimeSpy score around 11,000. Overclock profile below:
Core Clock: +100MHz; Memory Clock: +750MHz; Power Target: Max @ 112% with GPU temp target at 88c; Voltage: +100mv
The case really is worth the price. Sexy, sleek, and a dream to work in. Cherry on the cake is the cable management features and side panels that hide everything. Definitely a show piece.
Overkill for sure, but got it at a great price and does it's job!
Fantastic monitor for the price! Sure pretty much everything besides the panel is low quality, but who cares when you are getting 1440p, 144Hz, 1-4ms Refresh, and IPS in a sub $300 panel.
Only gripe I have is the out of the box color settings are a little yellowish, so I just changed it to "Cool" and that fixed it!
