Description

Hello everyone! I just built my first PC and thought I'd share it all with you. I was planning on doing this build over a year ago, but procrastination got the best of me. It wasn't up until about a month ago when I decided to pull the trigger and start buying parts. It was originally going to be around $750.00 but I got a little carried away and wanted to make sure all the parts matched in color as well, since I'm that picky.

I think the hardest part about this build was actually forcing myself to spend money, which I am not very good at. I love buying the cheapest and most minimal things I need, but once I started out with this, I said **** it, if I'm going to do this project, I'm going to do it as best I can. I chose the CPU from peer recommendation, the CPU cooler because it matched the case and would offer more cooling if I wanted to upgrade the CPU in the future, the motherboard because of the Z97 chipset and matching colors, the RAM because of the color and 8GB, the SSD because I decided at last moment that an SSD would benefit me greatly for boot times, the HDD because it was cheap and large, the Graphics Card because I was told it would go good with the CPU, the case because it looked cool, the PSU because of the color and it was fully module, the OS because of peer pressure, the Wireless Network adapter because I needed one, and the case fans because of the color.

So, you can see that most of my decisions were based off of color and matching, but I tried to do my research on more than just that and tried to get the best product for the price.

You can ignore the S&H at the bottom, that was more for a personal experiment I was doing.

P.S. I've gotten comments elsewhere that I should not put the case on the carpet even though the rubber feel keep it off the ground fine. I have put a cardboard sheet under it for now.

Here are the peripherals in case anyone was curious (I had these prior to the build and guesstimated the prices I paid for them): PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

What games have you tried out on the 270x?

Nothing yet, really. I have been playing some Trackmania Valley on all high settings right now and it works great, though! I've gotta build up my wallet before I go crazy again. :)

How is the CPU?

I chose this CPU mainly for the price, but it has been very, very good. Like I said in an earlier post, I haven't had much money to play that many top-notch games, but I have had time for browsing the web. :P I usually have at least 7 tabs open in chrome, as well as skype, steam, and rainmeter running. I know that's not a whole lot of load, but it handles all that with ease. :)
