this is my very first build and my very first gaming pc! i've been using laptops as my personal computers since about 2009, so i was looking for a nice gaming laptop. one of my friends told me that i could build a pc for much cheaper, so i took her advice! the original budget i had for a gaming laptop was about 2000 dollars, and i wanted this build to have the same budget. overall i got something with better specs, and more customized, so i'm super happy w it :]
i went from getting about 20-30 fps (at 900p) on overwatch with lowest settings, to now getting 80-100 (1080p) on highest possible settings! even games like ark stay above 50 on highest settings. this is my first pc with an ssd too, so it boots in less than 30 seconds, which is something i'm definitely not used to. overall i'm incredibly happy with this build's performance, the only thing i might wish i had done differently is spend a little more to get a better graphics card! cable management isn't great either, but hopefully i can clean it up a little during my pc's first dust cleaning.
usually keep it at 4.7ghz, it stays cool even at 100% load, and renders insanely fast!
manages to keep my i7-8700k under 80 degrees at all times, even at full load! only complaint is that the led on the block/pump doesn't have the most accurate colors, but i can't complain too much since that isn't what i bought this cooler for.
was torn between this board and the msi gaming pro carbon z370, definitely happy with the one. the aesthetics of this one are so much nicer. a little hard to plug in cables when i had already had the case fans, cpu cooler, ram, etc installed, but still possible, and probably my fault for not planning ahead.
wish the leds were a little brighter/more accurate in color (specifically purple), but i still think they look great and they work well!
i've heard people complain that it's too plain, but i love the aesthetics of this case. it doesn't distract from the components inside, the glass is incredibly clear, and it has tons of places to route cables. airflow is good too!
very glad i went with this monitor despite being scared of the reviews claiming it had problems with dead pixels. this is my first time using a curved monitor and i love it, and as an art student i'm very happy with the color accuracy!
was stuck between this keyboard and a corsair one, but in the end i really love this one. synapse is easy to use and the lighting is super vibrant. i was worried about it annoying me, but i also really like the click of the green switches!
