A little bit of background: I mainly use computers for web browsing and basic school work, but would also edit a video about once every month. I prefer using Final Cut Pro (now I am using LightWorks) for editing, and Davinci Resolve for color grading.
I decided to start this build after my old MacBook just wasn't cutting it. For this build, I was originally aiming for a sub $1000 budget, but went way over at the end, unfortunately.
CPU I chose this CPU mainly because I do not need overclocking abilities, and the performance suited my price and my usage habits quite well.
RAM Because many of my daily tasks (ex. numerous browser tabs, xp virtual machine to run legacy Visual Studio, etc.) I decided to go for 16 gb of DDR4. I got a higher clock speed G.Skill because it was on sale at my local store.
GPU DISCLAIMER: If you are also trying to run Davinci Resolve, I do not recommend by GPU choice. Davinci Resolve is a fairly GPU-intensive video editor. I did not realize this at first :( Because most video editors are mainly CPU intensive, this relatively budget GPU fits my needs, and should also in the future.
