Description

Hey everyone, this is my first build ever. Cable management sucks XD.

So when I saw the Ryzen CPU performance and the new RX 580 coming out, I decided to pull the trigger and build my own PC. I was gaming on console before and also playing some games (CSGO, Dota 2, Life is strange). I also do programming since I'm studying software engineering and also I'm trying to develop a game, so I had to get a good CPU and good Ram.

Building this PC was very easy but stressful because I didn't have an anti-static wrist strap and I also dropped the SSD once! (still works :P) I think the hardest part was screwing the CPU cooler to the motherboard. My cable management sucks (like seriously) but I'm planning to work on it soon.

I didn't have any problems during the build except that I forgot to put some screw mounts for the motherboard because my case is an ATX and my board is m-ATX. So basically my motherboard is held by 3 screws because one is loose too... I have to work on that too. I couldn't remove the motherboard after placing it (I was scared to break something because it wasn't moving at all when I was pulling). Everything looks solid but I'm gonna have to fix that with the cable management.

Performance is really what I was expecting, 1080p 60fps on high/ultra. Everything is fast from the windows boot to copying large files and installing stuff. I'm really happy with that!

Thanks for reading. Leave your thoughts and comments :)

Part Reviews

CPU

Amazing CPU! Good for gaming and everything else :)

Motherboard

Good motherboard! It has everything I need.

Memory

It's just ram with good speed (could have went for faster but I read that faster than 2666 is not guaranteed to work). I might upgrade for faster if people say it's worth it.

Storage

My boot drive. Might get one with more storage later.

Storage

My main storage space. Decent speed.

Video Card

Cheapest RX 580 8G when I bought it. It has amazing performance for 1080p. All the games I play run at an average of 60fps on high/ultra.

Case

Amazing case. Roomy and easy to work inside it! And the LEDs look nice :)

Power Supply

Semi-modular, nice power supply.

Monitor

It's an IPS monitor. It has AMD Freesync and 75Hz refresh rate when you activate it. All that for a low price :D

Keyboard

I have the cherry MX red variant. Love it.

Mouse

Software needed to be reinstalled to fix a problem (mouse not recognized by their own software smh). Other than that it's a good mouse for gaming.

It's a good build!

Don't worry, the cable management isn't that bad. Sure, there's a few stray wires you could tuck out of the way, but I've seen worse.

zebda submitter 1 Build 2 points 12 months ago

Well maybe because I didn't show you a picture of the back. The case has a little bump on that side because everything is so tight XD. It shouldn't be too hard to fix though.

Well maybe because I didn't show you a picture of the back

Eh, who cares what the back looks like? Although it is satisfying getting all the cables in their proper spots and having everything lay flat.

This build is really good! +1 Also, what are the temps of your cpu? im trying to decide between an i5 or a ryzen r5 cpu but since they are around the same price im trying to decide by temps.

GDamien 2 points 12 months ago

Do not just choose your CPU according to temps. Ryzen CPU is more for productivity but also great for 1080p gaming (will be better and better with DX12 games) but i5 is better on gaming but has less thread so worse in productivity. Moreover, this CPU is more for "old gen" games that run on DX11. So temps are to take in count but take care about other (most important) things. If u care that much about temps just buy a good aftermarket CPU cooler. I'm going for Ryzen for my next build if you want to know, without being an AMD fanboy :P

Gaming_Universe 1 point 12 months ago

The i5 and r5 cpus that Im considering buying are both about $180 and have similar performance in gaming. Im probably going to buy the i5 due to more choices for mITX mobos, but I want good temps for my build. Also, im not a AMD fanboy, Im just looking for a good cpu that wont bottleneck a rx580.

GDamien 2 points 12 months ago

You're hesitating between R5 1400 and i5 7500 I guess :P I know what you mean about bottlenecking but also take care about CPU utilizations during the games benchmarks. Were the i5 is on 100% utilization, the Ryzen CPU has a lot of room (like 60% utilization iirc so 40% of room left). So the R5 1400 is more futureproof than the i5 7500. The only question that you have to ask yourself is what kind of game you want to play on your PC ? New games that runs under DX12 = go for Ryzen, old games runing under DX11 = i5 ;) I also plan to buy the rx580 and I'm not scarred about bottlenecking at all. Hope this will help :)

Gaming_Universe 1 point 12 months ago

Main games I plan on playing are DOOM 4, CSGO, TF2, Alien Isolation, GTA 5, GMOD and a few other older games as well, I know that DOOM 4 would get a fps boost from ryzen cpus but Im not sure about other games.

GDamien 1 point 12 months ago

Ok :) If you plan to play mostly on these games go for the i5 7500. This CPU will also have good performances on new games of course but the Ryzen 5 1400 will be better on this battlefield. On the other side, the R5 1400 will perform a bit less than the i5 on "old" games but they'll still be playable (60+FPS at 1080p with max graphic settings). And yes on DOOM Ryzen line up performs way better than i5 because of Vulkan :D Your choice my friend. But there is not bad CPU there, just two CPU for different uses. I advize you to watch Benchmarks videos on youtube to have more opinions on these CPUs. It helped mo A LOT !

zebda submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

I think it's around 34 on idle and 57 on load.

Gaming_Universe 1 point 12 months ago

ok, thanks

Laceyn56 1 point 12 months ago

Ya my Ryzen 5 1600 overclocked to 3.8 is around 35 idle and 60 on load

SilverHero 1 point 12 months ago

The case is very clean, but I have 1 question for you? Where is your hard drive?

zebda submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

The hard drive tray is behind. There are 2 on the side where there is all the cables. Same for SSD mounts.

polocash 1 point 12 months ago

I think the RX 580 should have 600 W minimum, especially if you try to OC it.

zebda submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

I don't know if I want to overclock yet :/

polocash 2 points 12 months ago

500 is the lowest required for that GPU, so you are ok, but I usually go for a little wiggle room. It also depends on other things you may add in the future. I am also about to build a 1600 system.

riftking 1 point 11 months ago

500w is more than enough. The manufacturers put 500w because theres pretty much no way you'll run into problems with any setup when you have 500w. 500w is the manufacturers wiggle room

Nullarc77 2 Builds 1 point 12 months ago

I advise you wrap the cpu cooler cable around the base of the wraith. If you did that the build have look much better. Also put that fan cable behind the mobo tray if possible. Other than that a great build for the price.

zebda submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

Thanks! I already fixed the fan cable. I'll do the cpu cooler cable soon :)

XreskipX 1 point 12 months ago

can the gpu light up white? im doing a black and white pc build ;3; im thinking about getting it for the price

zebda submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

Yes it can. It has all the rgb color spectrum ;). Good luck with your build!

XreskipX 1 point 12 months ago

thanks :)

RavioliBoii420 1 point 12 months ago

Have you had any issues with that GPU since I want it but i'm worried since the price is insanely good and im worried some corners may have been cut while making the GPU. Nice build too!

zebda submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

I haven't had any issues. It's performing very well like I expected it to.

Mafieu_Rwa 1 point 11 months ago

Did you bought your GPU from vuugo? If yes what was the delivery time?

zebda submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

I got it from newegg. It was cheaper there and it shipped the very next day...which surprised me a lot because I chose standard shipping :D

Mafieu_Rwa 1 point 11 months ago

did you bought on vuugo? Is it good?

riftking 1 point 11 months ago

Hey, what are the thermals like with this gpu (during gaming/benchmarking/other heavy load)? Thanks

Rhristache 1 point 10 months ago

Did you buy the GPU on Vuugo? For me it says they are currently restocking but I was wondering how fast the GPU arrived because they might take a while to restock so I might get the 4gb model instead of 8gb

zebda submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

I got it from newegg. The next day it was at my door with standard shipping :P. Also I think going for the 8gb is better if you want to be able to run all games with max or close to on textures. Like I remember Rainbow Six Siege says it takes 6gb of vram with the enhanced textures dlc.

lexaronipizza 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

I think the reason why the mouse isn't showing up is, because you didn't put it in the USB 2.0 port. If I put my Rival 100 in the USB 3.0, it won't recognize it, but if I put it in the USB 2.0 port, it will be recognized by the software.

tonklar22 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

Does your LG - 23MP68VQ-P monitor screen tear, since it's only 75hz on freesync? I'm planning to get it myself but I'm scared it's gonna screen tear because the RX 580 can usually generate more than 75fps on most games.
