Description

This build was made with the help of /r/buildapcforme, /r/buildapcsales, and /r/buildapc. Pcitures taken with HTC One M8, apologies in advance. One shows me using Molex cables for my GPU, but I switched those out later for the proper PCIe cables with my modular PSU.

I am completely satisfied, getting wonderful framerates at everything I've thrown at it at max settings and 1080p. Don't have benchmarks on-hand, but will try to upload at a later date.

CPU: Have not overclocked, but plan to down the line. So far runs great.

Cooler: Keeps me around 50 C under load, no complaints. Also has a sick customizable LED.

Mobo: Overclockable and has red LEDs, which are nice.

Memory: Looks neat and runs as it should.

SSD: Sooooo fast! I'll never go back to booting Windows from an HDD. HDD also works spectacularly.

GPU: Chews up everything I throw at it at 75 C under load. No complaints, though I'll need more fans before I overclock.

Case: A pleasure to work inside of and a site for sore eyes. Great ventilation.

Nice components, pretty well balanced. I'm wondering why you used the molex to PCI power adapters on your graphics card though? Does the power supply not have enough power cables to power your GPU directly?

Other than that small concern, it looks like a very nice build.

Description says he later changed it. And last pic shows.

I later changed them out for the PCIe cables. I put them there at first due to confusion as to why they were packaged with the GPU.

Ah, I see. My apologies, I read through the description and must have missed it.

Still, very solid build. I think it will perform very strong for a long time. Let us know how the overclocking goes with the h80i cooler.

Can I ask where you got the R9 290 for $220? I was trying to get Newegg to match NCIXUS yesterday before the rebate except they wouldn't honor their "Ironegg Gurantee." If I can get it for $220 like you, i'd pick it up over the GTX 970.

I found it back in November on Newegg. It was on sale for $250 plus a $30 rebate. I think the base cost is $270?

Either way, it's a great deal, and if you lurk /r/buildapcsales, I wouldn't be surprised if a similar one pops up.

Is the mobo z97x-sli enough for good overclocking?

Any status update on OC on that 4690 with that 80i cooler? I am looking at the same cpu but considering the 100i.
