First off, gotta thank pcpartpicker. I wouldn't have been able to do this if it wasn't for this beautiful website.
I've used the same iMac for 7.5 years and it's somehow stayed alive this whole time. I knew it was going to die soon, so I started making plans to create this guy back in August. The original budget was $2,350 but over time (and thanks to this website) I was able to find some great deals and save nearly $400.
I'm looking forward to editing 4k footage (and getting a 4k monitor when the prices go down). So far this has been a very pleasing experience building it all myself. I was definitely given a huge sense of accomplishment when it turned on successfully the first time I tried it!
I hope to get Yosemite up on running, so far I've run into a few problems but I've made enough progress with it to know it's possible. I'll give updates when I can!
EDIT: I successfully have Yosemite up and running! Thank you to www.tonymacx86.com for helping me build this Hackintosh!
EDIT #2: I successfully installed FCP7!!! (Final Cut Pro 7)!!!!
Haven't had too much experience with other CPUs. But I love this one so far.
Beautiful and solid build. Push pull keeps everything nice and icy
This motherboard took a beating during the installation, it offered everything I needed in an ATX (besides SLI) and the layout of everything made it so so easy to work with. The orange/yellow looks great too!
It's RAM. Nothing too fancy.
Pretty affordable, haven't run into any problems yet. My computer boots up within 5-10 seconds every time.
Love that it's 5TB. It runs pretty hot though. At least 48°C all the time.
Got this one on sale, love the way it looks and the two fans keep it cool. The LED on the front is great, doesn't scream for attention like some of the other video cards I've seen.
I cannot speak any more highly of this case. Everything is perfect.
Does the job well. Came with every cord I needed.
Wireless Network Adapter
really really love this thing. very effective use of space. GREAT speeds. 100% recommend
Very smooth looking, very silent. BUT it's silent because the airflow isn't that impressive. Good thing I bought/could fit/afford 5 of them!
Nice and cute, airflow and RPM aren't too impressive but they look really great in my case. VERY silent, I still recommend.
Love this monitor. Matches case perfectly, resolution is beautiful for the $. Wish there were more white monitors.
