Said goodbye to an i7 2600k system that was running a 1000MhZ overclock for the last 5 years stable. It's going to a good home. One of my first rigs was powered by an AMD 80286 cpu. In fact, I was building all AMD for years until the CORE series from Intel came out. I can say I'm happy to return: welcome back AMD! This new build was exciting, looks great and very smooth gameplay. I boot from windows logo to desktop in less than 4 seconds (if that matters). My ram runs at 3200Mhz no problems. Everything is rock solid stable. Running BIOS 1201 and I might just leave it. The only problem is the temperature is reporting about 20C lower than actual as far as I can tell. A bios update might fix this but break something else. I'll wait and see.
Excellent CPU. I was on the fence about a 1600X or the 1700. Spend the extra and you won't need to upgrade next year. Do yourself a favour: Turn the fan around so the AMD logo is facing the correct way. It's just 4 small screws, there is a video on youtube on how to do it. Looks 1000% better. I just might keep this stock cooler for the summer. First stock cooler I've kept in over 10 years!
Thought this was the best mobo out there. Everyone liked it. Until I read the HardOCP review and almost died, as I hadn't built the system yet. Geuss what? ZERO problems. If HardOCP killed 3 CH6's, it's something they did wrong. Disregard their review totally. This is the mobo to get.
It was on the QVL but it is not the famous Samsung "b"" die memory. It's actually Hynyx but it runs at 3200mhz on DOCP XMP profile on the CH6.
Kick *** drive. No one can believe it's an actual HDD! Worth every penny for the expressions.
Decided to give Seagate a try after many years. It actually runs cooler and quieter than the WD drive.
Purchased this card in May 2016 for $1100, re using for this build. Sorry about the model #, I selected the wrong part in the build and can't seem to change it. I actually have the Strix GTX1080-08G-Gaming
Hands down the Phanteks line if cases makes building a breeze, for veterans and newbs. Anyone, and I mean anyone can do a clean build here. Excellent quality and design through and through. Best mid-tower tempered case on the market right now.
Johnny Guru recommended. Works great so far.
One of my first burners was a Pioneer back in the day so I thought, why not? I had to paint this drive. No drive comes black and it looks like crap inside the case otherwise. Some Krylon and masking tape saved the day. Obviously this voids the warranty, but I think you'll agree it's worth it.
