Description

Well this is my first ever build. I spent so much time researching I forgot to build this earlier. Anyways, before I start explaining my parts I want to thank everyone on this site who has helped mean answered all my newbie questions about pc building.

My favorite color is red and seeing so many black and red builds, I decided to change it up. I've been saving up for this computer since I was was in high school. It felt like a dream building this. Not only do I feel proud of myself, but also impressed.

Now, I present to you, Blood Rose!

CPU (Intel Core i7-6700K)

The 6700K is just pure awesomeness! This processor should last me a long time. Overclocked it to 4.5GHz while being super stable and low temps under load. Since it was my first time building, placing the CPU in the socket was more intense and nerve-racking than all my high school exams combined :O.

Cooler (NZXT Kraken x61)

This is one of the most sexiest coolers I have ever seen in my life. While playing with the RGB lighting, I got it to my preference and it just ties the whole thing together. Other than looking awesome, it does its job of keeping my CPU cool and makes almost no noise.

Motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7)

When this motherboard came out, I bought it in an instant. For so long I just thought of getting a white Asus board to go along with the Red/White color theme, then this beauty showed up. There are just so many features to tinker with, it looks magnificent, BIOS is super easy to use and did I mention it looks magnificent?

Memory (G.Skill Ripjaws Series IV)

I saw these in another persons build and just knew I had to buy them. Luckily for me, someone I knew were selling these used. So I immediately bought them. Also because the guy who sold to me is a dear friend, he sold it to me for $50! These sticks work well and does what it's supposed to. No problems so far :)

Storage (Samsung 850 EVO 500GB & Seagate Barracuda 2TB)

I've never had an SSD before and once I used this one. Holy mother of speed, this was so fast compared to what I was used to. Before I had to wait about 5 minutes for everything to completely load up when switching on my computer. Now all I have to do is blink and BAM! everything is up. (slight exaggeration, but you get the point). I needed quite the space since I help my uncle with some Video/Audio editing and these files are filling them up quite quickly. Maybe I should get another one :p

Graphics Card (Gigabyte 980 Ti Reference model)

BRB, have to pick up my jaw from the floor. Just kidding. But really this card just blew me away. I have been playing games on an old laptop that runs League of Legends at 30fps on very low. YES, you heard me right, VERY LOW. That should explain the performance on other games. Now it demolishes every game I throw at it. When first opening Fallout 4 it said "set to Ultra" I cried out tears of joy. So yeah it's an awesome card that won't disappoint.

I was going to paint it red/white, I was afraid that I might screw it up and ruin a very expensive graphics card and may void the warranty. So I left it as it is.

When it comes to sound, I never really noticed since I game with headphones. Some time in the future I will be learning to water-cool so stay tuned ;)

Case (NZXT H440)

This is case is just so sexy. I painted the black parts red to match the colors I was going for with Plastidip, just so I can peel it off when I feel like to . This was inspired by OC3D video when he swapped the colored panels from the Black and Red H440 with the White. It just looks so amazing. The painting process was a little tedious at time being it super windy and rained nonstop in my area when I was spraying it.

The built quality is superb and it looks stunning. I can see why everyone loves case this so much. It barely makes any noise and since the reference cooler is a blower type, everything else is kept cool. When the finished product was done, man I was so happy and amazed of how good it looked.

Monitor (Dell U2515H 25")

This monitor is probably one of the cleanest, sleekest looking monitor I have ever owned. It's thin bezels are just amazing and the quality of my Video editing and gaming scenes are just super crispy.

Peripherals (Headphones, mouse, keyboard and speakers)

The Sennheiser G4ME Zero is great. The sound quality is amazing and the build just feels so premium. The leather padding feels like placing clouds on my ears. I could wear these all day. The mic quality is awesome and the red color accents are nice.

The Royal Kludge keyboard was on Massdrop and got it shipped in a month since I live in Australia. I was looking for a nice white keyboard with rgb lighting to match the whole Red/White setting. I bought the brown switches and since it's my first mechanical keyboard i've done nothing but type random words on a blank word document just to hear the sounds :P

The mouse is also white with red leds which is really nice. But one thing really creeped me out. After downloading the software for the mouse something weird happened. Every time I clicked the DPI setting a creepy voice yelled out 8200 DPI!!! or it would yell out "Congratulations, you've won a trophy!". At first I thought it was a virus , like one of those you've won one million dollars type of thing, but it wasn't. I left it for a bit and when I was alone at home at 3 am in the morning with speakers on it said it again. I have never been so scared of a mouse before. I googled the voice and figured out it was from the software. I disabled it and hopefully will never hear it again...Jesus. Here's what it sounds like --->Creepy Roccat

The speakers I bought off Gumtree, which is like an Aussie variation of craigslist, for $70 bucks. The couple were moving to a different country and bought this for cheap. It works so well and is able to shake my room and make my neighbors swear at me. So I got that going...

The backplate I bought off V1tech. I got the wrong backplate and it broke during transit. I explained my case to them and in a heartbeat they replied back with an apology and another backplate free of charge. They were nothing but helpful and supportive and I can vouch for that.

My cables were from Icemodz, similar story with V1tech, got the wrong cables got sent the actual one free of charge. They were super helpful and friendly. Their store had a limited time only free international shipping so I went ahead and took advantage of that.

Thanks for reading this long description, and if you didn't, thanks for clicking on my build :) Hope ya'll have a lovely day/night. Peace :)

I love white and red builds, I only wish that Asus made a turbo model of the GTX 980ti to match your build perfectly.

Absolutely beautiful job! You should be proud. You have great taste. I am a little biased, I too have the same motherboard. The same brand of GPU and RAM and my favourite colour is red. And....I am also an Aussie. If mine was as good as yours, I wouldn't be able to take my eyes of it.

You should totally try and paint that graphics card, dude. I reccomend LinusTechTips's recent video as he is painting the same card you have. It's a pretty enjoyable video just to watch for fun as well. Anyway, you, sir, have an awesome PC. Looks pretty and I'm sure it runs very well.

I will definitely do it soon when I rack up the nerve to do so. I just have this feeling that i'll screw something up. But to be fair, thats how I felt about building my computer.

In had no idea that was a sticker! Took it off straight away! I might paint it when I feel more confident :P

  • 2 points

Oh, c'mon! You did a great job on all the other painting! I want to see this sooo badly! I'd like to propose white main parts with a red bridge (cause we've seen the other way around)!

  • 2 points

that is a bloody brilliant build and name!!

if only Asus made a 980 Ti TURBO edition, like the 970 one (white/red), that would make this build PERFECT! ;)

+11 Hammond!! you idiot... you gave him 11

have you thought about entering techsource pc wars or awesomesauces "booted"? i think you have a really good chance to win and even a better one if you custom paint toe gpu!

I have actually. I might paint the GPU soon since everyone is suggesting it. Hopefully when it's all painted, I'll definitely submit it to eds channel :)

  • 1 point

im getting ready to submit mine when i have everything done still waiting for the h105 in the mail with the g10 to cool my 390, all said and done mine will have a custom painted backplate, custom cables and a matching white/black color scheme for around $1,000 (will be posting the build in around a week :) )

  • 1 point

That's awesome dude! looking forward to see those custom parts! I love the 3901 great choice :)

Luv dem cables. I did custom cables on my recent build and they are the piece that brought it altogether. +1

  • 2 points

Damn, this is exactly the case and colour schemes i'm going to be using! Would you mind if i "steal" that idea of painting the black parts with plasti dip? :D

  • 3 points

I don't mind at all! Hope yours will be awesome!

  • 2 points

Great! I have a little question: Why did you paint the black parts white before painting them red? Is there a specific reason why you did this? :)

  • 3 points

Painting over the black just wasn't good enough. The Red wasn't really showing and the black was still visible. Painting it white made it more brighter and much more vibrant

  • 1 point

WOW!That was creative!Hey can you help me out a bit?I'm also making my unique special build to show off,but I need orange/white-orange RAM.If you play CS:GO you might be able to guess it.I need 1 8 gig stick that is either any of these ^ or one that I can paint.

  • 1 point

Hmm off the top off my head, theres a G.skill Ares stick that's all Orange. It's DDR3 if thats what you're looking for.

  • 1 point

Well couldn't find a single 8Gig stick so I went with a white Kingston instead.Oh and which parts can I paint, just wondering so I know what parts I can buy in other colors and then paint them.

  • 1 point

Hmm. GPU's can be disassembled and painted but be careful as you could accidentally void the warranty or fatally damage the component.

There's a tutorial on painting ram sticks on youtube there was one with the corsair vengeance sticks that requires you to pry it open so you can paint it.

Cases that are white are easy to paint and look amazing when done properly. Some people paint their SSD's if it's on show.

Some case fans like the Corsair Air series can have the ring also painted.

  • 1 point

I actually finished the build! If you didn't get it was an Asiimov build, based on the popular CS:GO Awp,P90 and M4 skin, Asiimov.

The White and Orange Combo intriged me,and I thought the mbo could be the black parts. I'm gonna paint some of my white case orange, and leave the black parts.Might get some LEDs later on.

  • 1 point

Ah! I see the combo. (had to google it) :p There's a few orange builds on the site. Hopefully you're painting adventures go well!

It's pretty awesome. I tested it on some other piece and it sticks on pretty well.

There isn't much room in that case for watercooling. It looks like so be careful if you decide to. Really nice build.

I got them custom made by V1tech and Icemodz.

  • 1 point

Awesome build! You really took the time to do it properly and it shows. I love the painting on the H440 and the custom sleeving. Great choices in parts and awesome peripherals. Only thing I'd like to see would be painting the graphics card (you clearly have the skill for that) or at least finding a way of switching out the lighting to be red (just a gel?). LTT did a video card painting of that card and that might be a good place to start. Either way, this is an amazing build with great attention to detail and clearly tons of work and passion poured into it.

I love this build! I was planning on doing a red and white build with some painting for my first build actually also. I was wondering if those cables extensions or full set that actually connects to the power supply? I don't want to buy extensions.

  • 2 points

You could get the full set, but I got extensions. closing the second panel was a little tough since the extensions were a little thick.

Thank you for explaining. I am getting a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX which has pretty good cable management so I'm not too worried.

Awesome thanks a lot, love your build.

  • 1 point

This build is amazing, but also makes me so depressed, you should have gotten dual SLI Asus turbo 970s, since they're white with red accent, and 2 of them mostly outperform a single 980ti or come close. still +1, sweet build, just wish it would have been all red & white

  • 2 points

Yeah true. The 980 ti was really cheap at that time. So it was a steal. But not to worry. I've just ordered some paint and will be plastidipping my card to make it all red/white.

  • 1 point

LOL, there's another build that was very similar to this one. Shame this didn't get featured. Pics quality lost against the other guy. But this is still an awesome build. Glad you loved it!
