Last year my brother introduced me into the world of PC gaming. I got a Alienware R3 15 laptop which I had some fun with but I've been itching to build my own computer. After seeing some friends complete their builds I figured it was time to give it a go.
Going into this build I had no idea what I was doing. All I knew is that I wanted to do it right the first time. After a couple nights I had finally finished and went to turn it on... nothing. No lights, no fans, no power anywhere. As it turns out the cable mod cords which I had bought are all bad! I switched back to all the original black (boring) cables and thankfully everything lit up. Not really sure if I got a bad batch of cords or what.
Looking back at the build there are a few things I learned -
1. It's not as hard as it looks most of the items are plug and play just follow any youtube tutorial. Even if its not the same brand as you are using you can still easily follow along. 2. Worry about cable management as you go along. Don't wait until the very end to start arranging and managing your cables because things get very messy. 3. Keep track of your screws. Some of these screws are very small and will easily disappear on their own. I kept mine in a little tupperware container (after loosing a few trying to keep them on the table).
