Description

Been Saving up for a couple years for a sweet gaming rig.

I mostly will be using this computer for first person shooters.

I also will be using it for work....I work from home.

The build went very smooth, much easier when I last built my PC years ago. This could also be attributed to the fact that I went with a larger case. Much easier to route cables and connect things with so much room.

The case is great. I love the LED HUE lighting system that you can change to any color you want. I did have one of the dust filters on the front bottom snap on me while taking it off. NZXT support shipped me out a new one no questions asked and I should have it in a few days. Great customer service!

I had to watch a few videos on how to install the Nepton 240m as that was my first time installed a Watercooled CPU cooler.

This machine is insanely fast and I haven't even really done much on it yet. I was planning on getting a GTX980 but my co-worker convinced me to splurge on the TitanX...I'm very happy with it.

I played around a bit with the ASUS AI software overclock and I'm running at 4.7GHZ and stable. I read online it's better to overclock manually in the BIOS.

I will probably add some WD Black 7200RPM 2TB Drives (Maybe create a mirror raid array) as I will probably snag a few for free.

I love the Power supply the color matches perfectly (I wish they gave White Sleeved cables..oh well) - and the Hybrid function is sweet. It only spins up it needs to.

ASUS ROG SWIFT monitor! WOW! I don't think I can ever game on a non G-Sync 144HZ monitor. It is so smooth you need to see it to believe it!

EDIT: Added another TitanX for an SLI Setup and some more Hard Drive Space. Waiting for my EVGA SLI 2 Way Bridge.

+1 awesome build. I was about to comment saying stellar man cave until I saw the pink chair xD. Need to get myself a ROD SWIFT though. Those things are tasty!

Thanks Joey! It took me a few hours . I'm pretty happy with it. Nobody will ever see it except me (and all of you on this site lol)

Yeah, but it'll be nice whenever you decide to tinker to know that the cables are all bundled up nice and neat, which will make things worlds easier for you.

Good point Joey! Plus I'm OCD so I would probably freak out knowing the cables are all messy behind there begging to be organized and velcro tied. _^

I noticed that your top panel isn't all the way down. My friend has a phantom and I'm pretty sure it should be flush. Don't know if you did it on purpose or if you didn't notice.

Other than that this is my next build. Once I have that kind of money.

LMAO I didn't even notice. Just gave it a push into place now! Now i need to re-take all my photos! Sigh...I feel so stupid

Haha it's fine. Just making sure you were notified.

You have a good eye! Thank you my friend. Maybe I should have left it. Adds Character to the build LOL =)

Excellent work and phenomenal cable management.

Why did you choose that cpu cooler instead of say the corsairs or swiftech as examples??

Not sure I just read alot of good review on the Nepton and I liked that it lit up white. I also read alot of reviews that the fans included in it were near silent (which they are). I get great temps too so I'm not complaining (34 degrees Celsius at 4.7GHZ idle)... at least i think that's decent temps.

Wow man! VERY nice build, smashes my to-be gaming build xD Also, love the chair, brand?

DXRacer. It says on the chair headrest.

Spot on! I love the DxRacer F Series...If i had more $$$ i would have went for a Herman miller but this will do. Plus the Nap Mode is pretty cool if you want to squeeze in a few minutes of shuteye.

  • 1 point

Yeah, I've heard that the DXRacer series is great, but a bit too hot for my tropical climate. I wanted to get a Herman Miller Sayl, but decided it was a bit expensive, so I got a different ergonomic chair with mesh which is nice as well.

  • 1 point

YA I was looking at the Herman Miller Embody.

Thank you very much, didn't notice that. :D

this is a fantastic build! love the case especially! i would have chosen the new noctis 450 just because its got the same chassis as the h440 and a phantom style outside and an underglow, and the psu shroud. just a preference, great build nonetheless, +1 from me!

What are your frame rates like with the Titan X and ROG Swift? I have a GTX 780 Ti and bought a ROG Swift. Thinking about a Titan X or a pair in SLI.

  • 1 point

Titan-X is totally unnecessary for that ROG Swift. Won't even use half the vram of the Titan-X. For the best value 970s SLI or even 980s if you really want to would be plenty enough for 144Hz at 1440p.

  • 1 point

You may be right, but I'm happy with the TitanX and hopefully my build is a little more future proof because of it.

  • 1 point

What I'd prefer was a second GTX 780Ti but nVidia made that impossible...I tried a used card, and it was DOA, I got a refund, and was hesitant to try that again on eBay. Not getting 970 or 980's, not enough VRAM, if I can use 3GB on my current card, I'm pretty sure I can hit the 3.5GB problem on 970 SLI cards... 980 would be the minimum I'd consider. But then I run into games that don't use SLI...and I'm right back where I am now. Which is what makes the Titan X appealing. I'd rather have unused RAM to grow into so to speak...that not enough, and be looking at replacement again in a year or two. I didn't think I'd be looking to replace my 780Ti this soon...but here I am.

I'll have to get back to you as I haven't really checked. I have Fraps is this the best program to monitor FPS?

Out of curiosity what kind of benefits can you get out of X99 cpus, CAD, gaming, etc.?

  • 1 point

I would not have recommended a TItan X for this build as it could easily be outpaced by 2 GTX980s for about the same price. Otherwise a cool build for sure. Also great cable management.

What if I got a second TitanX to SLI ...I'm contemplating although my wife may murder me HAH!

I see no issues with this.

  • 1 point

Honestly this is what I would have done for you're price range and added RGB lighting strips for about $30 off amazon.com or bsmods.com

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nvq8kL Has a more powerful 5960X CPU, more/faster storage, equally powerful if not more GPU, and Freesync monitor

A second Titan X I can't see giving any advantages other then getting framerates into the stratosphere to match the 144Hz refresh rate.

Titan X??? Holy crap, dude!

HAHAHA, best name for this. If you've seen my setup you'll realize that I'm the same way with it. I'm finding it harder and harder to get my real job done on it when so many beautiful games are just a few clicks away.

  • 2 points

Thank you ! i'm loving it. If i can save enough i want 2 more gsync monitors and a 3rd titan x _^

  • 1 point

You won't be able to use GSync in Surround but you can use ULMB which comes on all GSync Monitors and works better IMO. Look at my build and you'll see wassup, I can barely do 3 x1440p with a top 20 World PC. I also used to have that board, you have to use the first and last PCI slots to get 16/16, right now you're getting 8/8... Not a huge difference but worth noting.

  • 1 point

regarding the sli config are you sure.

accordingly to the MOBO manual SLI config for Dual PCIe Cards on a 40 lane cpu is slot 1 and 3

  • 1 point

You're correct, I was thinking of 3 way SLI. I had it before and tried to do 3 way Titan X's buuuttt it turns out you use 1/3/5 and the gap from 1-3 was too big and I couldn't use my 3 way fancy bridge. Which bugged the crap out of me. So I went Rampage V Extreme and just kept adding stuff until I got what you see now.

  • 2 points

phew. i was worried for a bit.

you're build is insane... my wife may kill me if I picked up another titan X , let alone 2 more and a new Mobo that support 4 way SLI. Is it possible to do 4 Titans on Air cooling without my office getting so hot that I'm sweating? I haven't quite gotten to a comfort level of watercooling my whole system. Looks very tedious.

I think you might have the most hard disks I've ever seen in one build lol. How many world encyclopedia versions do you have on file to date? :P In all seriousness though, its a great build.

HAHA Thnx. I actually need to update this. I switched out the 2TB with 2 - 3TB Hitachis. Need to create a mirror raid array out of them.
