Charity:Water Completion Report #4

philip

Feb. 15, 2016

Our fourth Charity:Water completion report arrived! Thanks to your support, we were able to fund 14 school water projects serving 4,775 students and teachers in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh

This donation helped provide 14 water projects at schools in Bangladesh. Here is an interactive map showing the GPS coordinates of all the completed projects we've sponsored to date:

https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zqE0c_J1hY48.k8n9g4q57yGw

You can also find our previous completion reports below:

PCPartPicker is supported through affiliate commissions from participating retailers. We donate a portion of our earnings to charity. When you purchase components through retailer links on PCPartPicker, you're not only supporting this site - you're also helping provide clean water and sanitation to people in need. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being a part of this and helping us make this happen.

This is honestly beautiful. Another reason why I keep coming back to this site. It doesn't just try to shove advertisement down your throat but instead really tries to help people. I think PCPP is making a difference in the world. Hats off to you, Philip, and the rest of your staff!

Not many more websites can make this claim.

This site isn't just about computers or contests. It's about helping the community. I really like to see when big communities reach out to those who are less fortunate and help out in a huge way. PCPP, you guys should never stop doing this. Keep on doing this and I think as a community we should make a goal to help even more people this year across the globe.

After reading this post, it really made me feel how blessed I am. I have food, water, clothes, a house, electricity, I mean we (people who aren't in 3rd world countries) are living like kings and queens. It's time to give back to those who don't have all these luxuries as we do.

Let's start up another fundraiser sometime in the near future, because I will definitely support this,

I agree. That is a really, really good idea. We need to get a place dedicated to donation (PayPal sort of thing)

What a great charity, it is sad to realize that some people don't have access to basic things like clean water.

This just made my morning. I was nervous about an upcoming paper and test I have due this week for college but this put me at ease knowing I get to go home to running water and food. I don't have it as hard as I think I do. Thank you PCPP for having humility and utilizing your capacities for the good of humanity.

Okay, jokes aside, you guys are doing a really great thing. Its great to see that others care. Hopefully we can get more people to know about this and this can be done on a larger scale.

Well done guys! Also, if you haven't voted for my MS- JK CALM DOWN I'm not going to say it, it was just a prank ;)

I work for a not for profit retail company who does similar work with our $$$. I am blown away by seeing that PCPP does this kind of charitable work unrelated to your business. I will make sure that I buy my parts through your affiliate links. PCPP, you guys are awesome!

My grandparents migrated to India from Bangladesh. I live just a bit to the East in KOLKATA, India. You can see it in the map. I share the same language of Bengali with the Bangladeshis. A big "Thank You" for doing this. BUT... How am I supposed to contribute by purchasing through this site when they don't consider Indian retailers? T_T

Anyone is welcome to contribute to Charity:water at any point - just visit their site and donate. However if you'd like to participate alongside us, we may at some point start a campaign on Charity:water that others can join in on.

No doubt those are cool. Donation-wise though, we just contribute money. The reason is that Charity: Water funds projects all over the world, and each project is different. In each area, they work with local partners to determine what is needed and what is the best route to go. They also work with local partners to do the implementation - that way the economic impact is felt locally, the community owns the project, and maintenance is done locally as well.

Some of the projects we've been blessed to fund so far have been wells, sanitation projects, school projects, etc. It's been a variety, and each has served the needs of the area. Things like school projects are pretty cool because the impact is more than what you'd think. Access to nearby water means that children spend considerably less time per day fetching water, so they can spend more time in school. Then at the school, access to sanitation and bathrooms lets girls spend time at school without being harassed. It sounds simple to us, but it can be literally life changing for the community.
