I want to build myself a pc, but what video card to use for just a 1080p monitor?

So I want to build myself a pc finally and I keep thinking I should save up and get one of those 980ti monsters. My problem is I will be using a 44" Vizio tv I have on my bedroom wall as the monitor. It's only 60hz but I just can't see replacing it anytime soon. The 980ti seems like a waste for 1080. I wonder if a 970 or a 390 is the limit I need to look at. Any input?

380 is enough with a good cpu? Sweet.

Just so I understand, you recommend an r9 380x 4gb. I won't be crossfiring. So an r9 380 4gb is still your recommendation?

I would get a 380x if you can, it has a decent performance boost.

R9 390 for 1080p, no competition.

Thanks. That seems to be the consensus.

I just ordered an XFX R9 390 from Scan. Will ultra like every game with above 60 FPS constant, assuming your monitor is 60 HZ the R9 390 is the perfect choice price / performance wise owo

If you're going for an R9 390 i'd try these:

US: http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16814150729

UK: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-xfx-radeon-r9-390-double-dissipation-6000mhz-gddr5-1000mhz-gpu-2560-streams-plus-free-copy-of-hi

Of course you could go secondhand, or for whatever brand you prefer, this is the card I picked up, bit cheaper than alternatives with no loss in performance whatsoever. And they look great o.o

Other than that good luck with your set-up!

Yeah unless I had the Vizio burn out or I have a windfall of money to get a great big 4k tv, it's 1080p on a TV at 60 hz :-(
