Judging from a gaming benchmark from (I forget), it's similar to an R9 280x or 290x... From a FutureMark (or FurMark) benchmark, it's scoring slightly higher than a GTX 970...

What is this GPU really similar to?

And is it worth paying $242 for? (it's a single-fan kind, new, with 5-year warranty).

290/290X or 390/390X. For NVIDIA, it slightly pulls ahead of the 970 as well as the Titan. The closes is the 290X.
