R9 390X2 v GTX 1080

PowerColor Radeon R9 390X2 16GB Devil 13: $575 with $100 rebate, requires a massive PSU, may encounter crossfire issues, but has superior performance.

GTX 1080 Founder's edition: about $700, TDP of 180W (versus 480W)

That $100 mail-in rebate is pretty wild. I'd roughly estimate that the 390x2 requires $60 more on the PSU and has an annual kWh cost of $30 more. Do y'all think the 390x2 is a good competitor to the 1080?

No, I would get the 1080 just because CF is a bit unwieldy in scaling and support in some games. If you want to go AMD, I'd wait for Vega.
