What kind of adapters?

Displayport --> Dual Link DVI. If you're doing Nvidia surround you might need active adapters, not really sure.

I believe your GPU's come with at atleast 1 adapter (depends what manufacturer) I know EVGA provides an adapter to VGA. Adapters witch fit to the output on your monitor witch you will be using to connect the two.

First off, don't ever use VGA.

You can connect two monitors using the DVI-outs on the card.

For the next two, you'll need an HDMI-to-DVI cable and an active DisplayPort-to-DVI cable.

Well he did say he has 3 way SLI - I've never used an SLI setup, but can't he use the outs on the other cards just fine?

I'm also wondering how you plan on gaming with 4 monitors...

In SLI you can only use the outputs of the master card in the array. If he wanted to drive off of the outputs on the other 2 cards he wouldn't be able to SLI all 3 of them.

Nvidia supports a 3+1 display setup, with 3 monitors dedicated to games and a 4th as an auxiliary display for your browser/chat rooms/whatever.
