It can be any car (stock please, no mods) and it isn't restricted to road cars, so includes any form of race car (F1, GT3, nascar, NHRA, etc.) I just want to know what kind of cars you guys like. One of my personal favorites is a mazda miata with a manual transmission

cheeseandram 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

I had one of those a while back, sadly insurance costs came back to haunt me later on, so I ended up selling it and buying a Peel P50, which was heavier but had a bump in horsepower

syg101 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

I just searched that up, that's mean looking car. Awesome

romanvalkre 4 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Now a days, it would not be the fastest or most reliable thing in the world... but once you have heard one, sat in one, and felt the low rumble shaking your lungs... its hard to not love them:)

syg101 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

I wish i could experience it some time in my life. There was a car show in my town a week ago, I couldn't see it though. Homework and things

tragiktimes101 1 point 1 month ago

You bore that 454 over enough and you begin to get close to some of the best accelerations in the world again. But only close.

tiny_voices 2 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Not even remotely close. lol

tragiktimes101 1 point 1 month ago

Ah shoot, you're right. It's with a custom engine. XD

4.13s 1/8 mile @ 181 MPH

romanvalkre 4 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Sadly I did not get much chance to mess with it. My finances reached the point where I could sell the car, and finish collage, or drop out, and keep the sports car. I took the degree. 15 years later I still miss that car.

tragiktimes101 1 point 1 month ago

It's hard to say which was more valuable, a college education or the appreciated value of the Chevelle. XD

rhali8 2 Builds 2 points 1 month ago

Tough one between a MK4 TT Supra or a 1973 Datsun 240Z. Probably the Datsun.

rhali8 2 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Oh and a random opinion, not a big fan of muscle cars. Prefer big power coming out of small engines over decent power coming out of a huge engine.

Evil_Paroxysm 3 Builds 1 point 7 days ago

I'm building an early 74 260z (Same as a 240 but a bigger engine) then the late 260z's modeled after the 280 even though they were only made for about 11 months and all of them are 74's.

Wanting a 240z though you'd be better off with a series 1 which is 69/70 because those are the ones that fetch over $100,000 in original condition now

rhali8 2 Builds 1 point 44 minutes ago

Very nice... Are you building it to factory specs or going for power?

Had a chance years ago to get a GT/CS at a desperate price. I'm still kicking myself in painful areas.

Jeff_M 1 point 2 months ago

Oh man, I can feel your pain. Friend of mine had a 09 GT/CS, fun car but not the collectors item the original is.

Siwini 1 point 2 months ago

It was rough, but it was all there, still ran, what did I need another Mustang for?

vagabond139 5 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

The Mclaren F1, it is still hyper car fast by today standards doing 240MPH and does 0-60 in 3.2. Its stupidly fast around a track, a prototype ran the ring in around 7:11.It was bat **** insane by 90's standards and is still that way today. There is just something about a 20 year old super car that is still fast stupidly fast by today standards, it has aged like fine cheese.

For something that isn't going to cost you a few bodies worth of organs I would say a C6 Z06. Maybe its becasue I grew up playing with it in games.

syg101 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

The F1 is outrageous. I'm jealous of everyone who has one, and sad when they don't drive it. That's a car that deserves to be seen

vagabond139 5 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

They definitely deserve to be driven. If you can afford the F1 and its ungodly high maintenance cost you can afford to drive it hard.

BattleDor 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I like the Jaguar F Type althought the Aston Martin DB 11 is might find looking.

syg101 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Man, an f-type just seems like a driver's car. i've seen a DB11 up close, it's breathtaking.

Siwini 1 point 2 months ago

The F-type is really easy on the eyes, any Aston Martin is beautiful.

BattleDor 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I've been inside both they're both amazing.

Jeff_M 1 point 2 months ago

I have to say, the exhaust notes for the F Type are some of the best I've ever heard, I watched Clarkson's review of it on TG several times just for that.

PCPPAccountant 4 points 2 months ago

Long live Top Gear... the old one before Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc ruined it lol

BattleDor 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

cheeseandram 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I love the sound of the SVR, with that deep AMG-like growl followed by the pops when you take your foot off the accelerator. IIRC Clarkson reviewed the V6 model

cheeseandram 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Personal favourites as of now:

  • GT86. There's something about it that I really like, maybe it's the aggressive looks, maybe it's the modding scene behind it. I don't know, however it's been one of my favourites for a long time now.

  • DC5 integra (AKA the RSX) - Currently hoping to buy one, but insurance in the UK is awfully expensive so I might have something smaller for an few years first :P. I love these cars, I'm a Honda guy myself and I love the engines in these cars as well as the styling.

  • F type (SVR) - Awesome sounding car and one of the best looking cars of all time IMO. It's pretty fast as well.

  • 720S - Looks nice and it's pretty quick. Like the GT86, I dont really know why I like these cars so much

Nuclear_Physicist_Thats_A_Birb 1 point 2 months ago

Why not AE86 xd

cheeseandram 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I've never really bothered to take a look at the AE86 for some reason.

tiny_voices 2 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

They are stupidly expensive for beat lower tier models because Initial D made them popular. In the states a beat GTS model with the 4ag motor and some rust with no JDM body parts at all is a $5000+ car.

Nuclear_Physicist_Thats_A_Birb 1 point 1 month ago

its 17k-30k average price for a car lol

tiny_voices 2 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

What are you talking about? No ae86 would cost 30k, let alone 17k.

Porsche Cayman.

A think they look sexier than a 911 and cheaper.

A 0-60 of 4.0 seconds isn't bad.

I'm currently driving a BMW M4 due to my rx8 dying a few years ago and I needed a car in a hurry.

PCPPAccountant 1 point 2 months ago

Agreed these are beautiful cars. I also prefer them over the 911's

cheeseandram 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

If I had a choice between a Cayman S and a GT3 then I'd pick the Cayman any day. Although I'd take a 918 (which I'd probably crash) or a Carrera GT over any other Porsche.

Xorex64 1 point 2 months ago

Favorite race car is the Ferrari FXX. Based on the Ferrari Enzo and produced exclusively for the Ferrari XX program, you own the car, but cannot take it home. Ferrari keeps it and maintains it, invites you to track day events and you meet them there. They set it all up for you and all you have to do it drive, have fun, and leave. For the cool cost of a few million $ supposedly. Think you have to be invited by Ferrari to even buy one sadly. The 599XX and FXX K are very similar. Listen to the sound of this engine shriek and then tell me you don't want to drive this lol.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsCOEHZ1Szw

Practical car, I would go with a Corvette. Probably one of the best cost/performance cars out there. Fast enough to encourage you to push it, and not expensive enough to make you think twice about it like a Ferrair/McLaren, Porsche, etc. They're awesome to drive.

tomtomj2 8 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

My personal favorite is actually the Panther body platform by Ford which is 3 cars. The Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car.

A couple others I like are the Ford Taurus SHO, Ford Focus, Chevrolet C4 Corvette, Chevrolet Bel Air (Mostly late 50s models) Buick Grand National, Subaru Baja, Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Explorer, Jeep Cherokee, and the Honda Crosstour.

I have a weird taste in cars lol
