How will 1100 cards affect 1000 prices?

^ When the 1100 series Nvidia cards come out, which is supposedly gonna happen around August, how will that affect the Geforce 1000 series? I hoping to land a good deal on a 1070 or maybe if I'm lucky a 1070Ti, but I don't have lots of money. Hoping that when it happens I can do that, and then around black friday/cyber monday get a better monitor to go along with it (above 1080p with G-sync, maybe high refresh rate too). Ofc I do understand that very little is known about these cards so it's more guess work, based on how 1000 affected 900, how 900 affected 700, how 700 affected 600, etc.

Generally they don't have much effect on new prices.

Manufacturers stop production of the older generation well before the replacement card is launched to clear the supply pipelines so oversupply isn't really much of a factor in prices.

Ah, oh well...maybe though retailers will put them on clearance when the time comes. Otherwise I'll probably wind up getting a GTX 1170 around Black Friday, but I'll just have to see what happens

If you go high refresh rate, don't waste your money on g-sync imo. I bought a free-sync $300 alienware monitor (i have nvidia GPU) that is 240hz and I don't see tearing at all on Fortnite, Pub-G or CS:GO. Oh side note, you do absolutely notice a difference over 144hz.

If you stay at 144hz or under and/or play any games at high resolution/lower fps...I would get g-sync.
