Opinions on this parts list (first time builder)

Hi everyone! Just thinking of buying some part this week to start building my first gaming PC (Yay!) and wanted some advice on parts, deals, and what will be easy for a first time builder. I have a EVGA Geforce GTX 1060 6GB already and I know that an i7 is a bit much for the graphics card but in the future (when prices are lower) I plan on upgrading the GPU. Will there be any issue if I do use the CPU and the GPU for a long period of time?

There won't be any issue upgrading it later. However, just to be safe I would go with at least a 650W PSU because if you end up going 1080ti or even 1070ti 550 will be cutting it close. Also I would strongly recommend getting an SSD as well as your HDD. It's a great thing to put the OS on, as well as other programs that you want to run faster.

What SSD and HDD should I go with?

I like these SSDs: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6yKcCJ/samsung-860-evo-500gb-25-solid-state-drive-mz-76e500bam but there are a lot of good ones out there as well. I would probably get one with at least 500GB, gives you a bit more wiggle room with file space.

HDD, won't matter too much as long as its at least 7200 RPM and doesn't have 1-3 star reviews. Seagate generally has good ones, but there are plenty of other good ones.

The 212 EVO is pretty outdated at this point, a H7 would be a better choice for that price:

Removed thermal paste as it's included with the CPU cooler, switched SSD to a bit better quality one.

It's fine. Your CPU defines the maximum framerate you can get in a game, video card defines the quality settings you can run the game at.

Ok! Thank you, I wasn't sure if I needed extra thermal paste or not. Is there also remover of some sort included?

You can remove old thermal paste with rubbing alcohol. Most coolers come with enough paste for 1-3 applications.

Looks good.

Get a better CPU color though. Check out Noctua products or an AIO.

Using that CPU and GPU will be fine.

Also check out the Fractal Design Meshify C. It has better airflow , looks better ( I think it does lol ), and its cheaper.
