Finally switching to a gaming desktop instead of laptop-- 3k budget

Budget: 3k ceiling, would prefer the low 2k range but flexible

Location: US

OS: Windows

Use: Primarily gaming, no streaming. My current laptop has serious issues playing Overwatch without overheating and also lags in MMO raids. It can't handle running Discord or other VC apps while playing, either, which seriously hampers gameplay. I also love modding Skyrim and I hope to buy a VR system sometime next year-- so I'd like this build to integrate that level of graphics. I do minor graphics and video editing, but gaming is absolutely the focus here. I'm open to starting at a lower capability (can run games, but not VR) as long as the build is easily upgradable to the ideal solution.

Bonus: White and Black color scheme, with either the (NZXT - Phantom 530 (White) ATX Full Tower Case) or the (Phanteks - Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass ATX Mid Tower Case). I really love clean builds. I'm willing to wait and save if it means ending up with a better looking build.

I have experience physically building a PC, but I've never picked out all the components. I got as far as figuring out what case I like, but I'm not even sure how to choose between full and mid form factors. Thanks in advance for help and advice!

Honestly at the time being the 2080ti doesn't give the benefits it would need to to justify it's $1,300 price. RTX isn't even in most games yet, and with it on it's even worse than a 1080 TI. The price to performance is not great and neither are the features or their support.

It certainly beats the 1080 Ti.

It really depends on what you are using it for.

That should be so smashing at 4K 60fps anything. Tell me if you need anything else like a monitor or such.
