I've got a gateway fx6840-03e that I've had for a few years. It's beyond time to upgrade, but I think I'm just gonna do a whole new build instead. So, I'm planning on getting the gpu first and putting it in my existing pc until I have the rest of my new parts. I would like to get a evga gtx 770. The specs for my gateway are here:
The extreme psu calculator says 417 watts. The power supply that I have now is an fsp group 500w. I'm thinking I should change it out but I want a 750 watt for my new build and the corsair hx 750 I'm thinking about getting probably isn't going to fit in the gateway case. If it will it's a top mounted psu case. Makes me very nervous thinking about an almost 10 lb brick hovering over the mobo and expensive new gpu. So I need some help here, any advice?
