CPU cooler mount adapter?

Hi, I'm rebuilding my old pc and I have a problem fitting the cpu cooler I have.

Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 Micro ATX

Cooler: Intel: LGA775, 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156, 1366 AMD: FM1, FM2, AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, AM4

The mount of the cpu cooler is a square. The holes in the motherboard are in a rectangular shape.

Which cooler did you purchase? The package contents should include the appropriate parts to mount the cooler.

The square mounting is the Intel mounting and you need to get the AMD AM3 bracket on the cooler. What cooler did you get? I am sure there will be a youtube video guide on how to mount it to AMD. Though since this is an old build some coolers use the old AMD stock method where you have 2 plastic clips that screw into those holes and are there by default when you get a new motherboard. If you got rid of them a long time ago and no longer have those plastic clips then it may be an issue. Well only if the cooler is reliant on those clips.

A cooler like the Be Quiet Pure Rock Slim does use the stock clips while coolers like the hyper 212 evo does not and has its own mounting bracket for AM3 / AM4(if new enough).

I think the cooler is an Argus SU-200 it's cheap cpu cooler.

I don't have the plastic clips. There is nothing on the board except the holes.

I don't really want to spend a lot of money on this build because its just for fun.

I found this: https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Plastic-Heatsink-Bracket-Socket/dp/B01LYZR6B8 Now I just have to find a place that sells it that's close to where I live.

Yes it seems that cooler does use the AMD stock plastic clip mounting bracket. Never heard of that brand before. I can understand on why you don't want to sink much money in an AMD FX build as it is simply not worth it anymore due to how dated it is.

I found a cheaper one that isn't a multipack:
