Which one to go with?

So I am looking to buy a motherboard for a 3600 build and currently i'm thinking about going with the older chipset, x370 on a ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VI which has an updated bios for the ryzen 3600... Is this a good idea or should I go for a more recent chipset? Cheers.

X370 isn't as great of an idea purely because its end of life so any BIOS versions released for it are going to be BETA level which comes with bugs.

And You generally have to go through multiple BIOS updates to ensure You get all the fixes AMD has rolled out over the years, or You risk having a bricked motherboard that won't work.

Also they don't even support the boost from the 400 on... To be honest you don't even need it with that CPU, try checking the B450 Steel legend.. more than enough for the CPU and well capable of more with the VRM design that it has, it's a great mobo with plenty of features.

They don't support PBO which doesn't matter, all PBO does is increase voltage for no real gains in clock speed on 3000 series models. The normal boost clocks are fully supported.

As for the board itself.

It's a mediocre VRM comparable to Gigabytes or Asus outside of the Strix models, Better then Biostar and lower end ASRocks, but beat by MSI's.

It is another sad case of ASRock building good looks but failing to back the looks up with hardware.
