Need an amazing video card preferably under $400 - HELP!

Hey guys, I'm building a PC for the first time. Here it is: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/drumstar2008/saved/4oEC

The theme is Red and Black, so I would like a video card to fit that theme.

I'd like to get great FPS on modern games that are going come out like GTA V or Watch Dogs. Also, I'd like to get amazing FPS on GTA IV, which is one of the main games I play (I install graphics mods frequently, so I need a video card that can handle that load). I have a $400 budget, but if the card of my dreams is just a little bit over that, I'll spend the extra money.

PLEASE HELP!!! D:

Well red and black will have to be MSI or ASUS gpu's within the GTX 770 or R9-280X lines. Also i wouldn't spend the extra money on the 4gb model of a GTX 770 as it doesn't improve performance. Only reason i could see getting the 4gb version is if you plan to run them in SLI and have a 4k monitor. Even then its still not powerful enough to use all that VRAM.

And whats this about GTA V??? Any new news on it coming to PC?

Thanks for the response. I'll definitely change to the 2GB of ram.

And as for GTA V: A man can dream can't he? Also I'm pretty certain it's gonna come out, maybe around November-ish

I stuck to red/black for my build as well.

Here is a list of MSI cards:

I have the same motherboard. I would suggest sticking with a MSI card, as this will allow some other features since the motherboard and graphics card are MSI

My goal is to run two 760 in SLI

Here is my build

assuming you will be running at 1080p? amazing video card under 400 = gtx 770 2gb hands down.

Haha, I decided to go with the Formula because (other than it is my dream motherboard) it was within my budget and had great performance.

dschutt84 has good points, all.

A red and black 290 is also available to you.

Is the 290 better than the 770 2GB?

I think it would be more accurate to say the two are different. In general, I'm a fan of nvidia cards more than AMD cards. The 290 here has more raw power than the 770, and it also has the advantage of twice the vRAM, to help push those really large display configurations. On the other hand, it's got a much higher TDP, doesn't perform RADICALLY better than the 770, and the cost difference is almost $100 in favor of the 770. If you want the absolute best performance in BF4 possible, or if you need to push a really giant resolution, get the 290. Otherwise, get the 770, or even two 760s.

Ok thank you for the explanation, I think I'm going to go with the 770 because I need to save that $100 and I don't think I need so much raw power.

It's true, you really don't need a 290. Enjoy that 770; I have a friend who swears by his!

im envious wish i could afford to upgrade my 660ti to a 770, there is nothing out there at 1080p that 770 wont absolutely crush and will last you a long time!!
