In terms of performance not much. The main difference is warranty, Blue has 2 years, Black has 5 years.

Not massive, but it's there... Get the blue unless the black is actually close in price for a change

Cheers Guys. its only £15 difference between them so I’ll just get the Black Series

The Black series has SSD cache which will accelerate the performance.

I doubt he's talking about a WD Black2 (or squared or whatever), WD Blacks have little difference other than platter types. The latest WD Blacks actually have lower bench-marked sequential read performance but higher random read than WD Blues, and poor seek times on the 1TB model. If going Black, get 2TB or larger, otherwise get the Blue.

OK, I didn't realize there was a difference among WD Black drives. Thanks for the clarification.

I've used the 1TB black and 1TB blue. In all honesty, I can't notice much of a difference. Windows boots slightly faster on the black in the same specced system.

The biggest difference is warrenty. 2 years v 5. I also noticed that the black is much louder than the blue. The blue is pretty much silent but the black is pretty loud when you first turn it on.

I'm planning on getting an SSD for the OS and applications. And my Videos, Music, Pictures ect are all on an external HDD. The HDD is purely going to be storing Games.

I'd grab the WD blue then and save £15. The black is faster, slightly, and I doubt it would be noticable when loading a game or game level.
