I have decided to use this as my cooling system. I have a friend that is going to help build my PC, but he was saying he is not very water cooler savvy. I was doing some research, is this a"self contained"water system? everything I read, states just add it on and you are fine, no extravagant water tubes needed. Any feedback with owners?

Yes, that cooler is completely AIO (All In One) so i9t is rather easy to set up compared to advanced full water cooling rigs that you will see the pros use.

Would you recommend additional fans or is that cooler enough?

1 fan should be enough but the stock fan will be noisy so I suggest getting a different fan. Although I think you can add a second fan it may not be possible in your case so it's worth looking into if you want better cooling (but only by 1-3 degrees)
