corsair h110i gt idle temps help i7 4790 (non k)

So at idle (ambient temp in here is pretty high, not sure what exactly tho) im between 31-33C. When i start up a game like bf3 @3.8ghz, my temps jump up to a maximum of 46C, not any bit higher, which is impressive?

Im downloaded prime95 and had it do 8 torture tests and at 100% @3803.60mhz (~3.8ghz), i capped at a max of 47C. Are these temps alright or should they be wayy lower?

My old h80i would do about 24C at idle and cap at like mid 50's max at load. Idle gpu (gtx 780 sc) temps are usually 29-30C, but today they were at 40C. maybe it is the room temp....

Ive reseated the cooler multiple times (about 4) and temps are always the same.

what temperatures should i be getting with an i7 4790 (non k) @3.8ghz with a corsair H110i GT @idle and @max load? Thanks and i would appreciate every answer even if it means reinstalling the waterblock.

EDIT: my case is a NZXT Noctis 450. Has all the fans except the 120mm at the top because of 280mm rad. x3 120mm intake at front. Have 280mm rad (h110i gt) doing exhaust at top and x1 140mm doing exhaust at back. That is my airflow setup.

Those are very good temps. Anything below 50c at full load is fantastic.

lets remember this is a locked cpu, probably a waste of money getting a 280mm rad...... a cooler like the H7 would have been more than adequate.

OP probably wanted the cooler for aesthetics

still expensive as hell for aesthetics...... I guess some people can...

He already has it though. It was a waste of money, sure, and even if he did want a 280mm AIO, there are better ones out there, but he already owns it so there's not much of a point in telling him to buy something else.

I now he already owns It (not telling him to buy another but saying it was a waste of money)... if he had an unlocked i7 it would then make more sense. I just don't see the surprise as even the stock cooler would have work (probably not stressing with prime)

quoting my comment

a cooler like the H7 would have been more than adequate.

"would have been"

I dont understand how great these temps could be since my h80i would get as low as 24C on idle. This thing is much much quieter (have it on quiet mode atm) and i understand that. Heres another problem that i noticed. I put the power settings at energy savings mode, to reduce cpu speed to about 700mhz. Then i ramped up the fans to MAX speed. My temps still didnt drop at all. Not even 1C. Something is definitely wrong.

one last thing. Im not sure if this is a reliable way of measuring ambient temps, but its all i had at the time to go on. I used my smartphone and downloaded a thermostat app and acorrding to that app, my ambient temp was 19C (66F), yet my temps were at 30C. Maybe i got a bad unit? Backplate is on sturdy, doesnt even budge at all. If my h80i could do better at idle by almost 10C, then maybe i got a bad unit.

If the loaded temps are down that's all that really matters?
