I have the EVGA 970 FTW+ and I hate the sound and noise of the fans provided. Looking for a relatively simple and inexpensive solution to quieten it down, so no full water block.
Would something like the nzxt kraken g10 and the h55 for example do the job. My only concern is that g10 might not fit onto the board design of the evga 970 ftw+, especially concerning the vrm cooling with the secondary fan.
A few options:
In thoery could I just use an AIO like the H55 mounted directly onto the board with this bracket attached below http://www.prolimatech.com/en/products/detail.asp?id=987&page=1 and add fans onto the bracket to blow onto cooling plate? http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2015/05/evga-geforce-gtx-970-ssc-acx-2-0-review/evga970ssc-10b.jpg
Would there be a way to just remove just the plastic fan and shroud but leave the metal fina array and pipe cooler attached to the board, with the aforementioned bracket positioned just below blowing cooler air onto the fins and pipes, essentially a mod job or replacing the fans with my own? http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2015/05/evga-geforce-gtx-970-ssc-acx-2-0-review/evga970ssc-9b.jpg
Use a combination of the prolimatech mk-26 and a couple of fans or trying to clip the fans directly onto the fin array.
