Overkill PSU or just right?

Hello there! I would like to know if the PSU I have selected is overkill. But first, let me explain my intentions with this build.

First of all, I AM going to do SLI in the future when the card drops in price.

Second, I plan on overclocking my GPUs+CPU.

So, with those two ideas in mind, is this PSU overkill for my needs? - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7Kwqf7

I'm not changing any other parts in this build other than the Power Supply because I've already ordered some :)

you would be fine with the EVGA G2 850

I don't see a problem going with the 1000 watts version either.

Do you think 1000W is overkill? I've had people suggest me a 750W for the build above (mentioning my reasons above too). I just don't want to get something that is too excessive for my intentions.

the recommended PSU is an 850 watts, so 850 watts would work perfectly fine. But you never know if you will need more watts in the future and that PSU has a 10 year warranty so if you are willing to pay the difference go ahead. I don't see anything wrong by going with the 1000 watts unit.

But the minimum I would buy would be the 850 watts version.

Do you think 1000W is overkill?

not really..

the psu is not overkill, especially as you've expressed the intent to add another 980ti and overclock everything. 750 is poor recommend for this build, 850 is a minimum and I've seen 980ti SLI builds with i7 4770K shut off with 750 and 850 watt psus when heavily overclocked. 1000 is a good size and I recommend EVGA's 1050 GS over the 1000 G2.
