Solid motherboard for gaming. I'm not overclocking, and not worried about SLI, so this was a perfect mid-range choice for me.
Easy setup, installation of drivers, BIOS is user-friendly
Updating drivers is easy with MSI Live Update
Comes with so many MSI "utilities" that you don't know which to use. There were at least 3 different ways to overclock your CPU
The included Live Update tool tries to install Chrome, Google Toolbar, and Norton Security.
Updating BIOS through Live Update did not work. You have to flash the bios using a USB drive. That's not a problem, but the utility has a button to update the bios within Windows that did not work for me.
Ram is locked at 2133 Mhz by default, must be overclocked to reach full speed.
I wanted a cheap, future-proof MOBO and this is exactly it. Overclockable, crossfire ready, up to 64 gb of RAM.
So far so good!!
Great mobo for the price. Had 4 fan headers which is what I was looking for. They could be better located but besides that no complaints. BIOS is easy to work with and the guide included with the mobo made every thing easy.
I've never planned to overclock but this was going at a decent price and I knew I wouldn't need to go through any BIOS updates for kaby lake. Comes with an excellent guide.
Works fine, I didn't have to go in bios or any complicated stuff, just used my windows boot and setting up was easy, and it has been working well, although I am not using the overclocking feature.
Best Z270 MoBo for the price. Incredibly easy to use BIOS, immediately defaulted to OS boot once I inserted the Win10 USB. Not overclocked yet, but is incredibly easy from what I hear.
Great value. Easily overclocked the i5-7600k to 4.5ghz @ 1.25 voltage. Haven't tried to push more, but I wouldn't expect it to be an issue. Recognized the DDR4-3000mhz RAM's XMP profile immediately. The light on the board that tells you if there's a problem when you boot up actually helped us detect a faulty monitor (VGA light lit up when first booting).
Nothing too special about this board, but it didn't give me any problems and everything installed easily and runs smoothly. Only reason I'm deducting a star is because one of the 7 or 8 available fan connectors doesn't seem to work.
This board has served me well so far. I was looking at similar boards from Asus, but this one won out on price despite its odd brown hue.
Other selling points were the ability to overclock, extra fan headers, m.2 and optane support and the fact that it isn't red.
BIOS can be slightly confusing at first but it is intuitive enough. I was able to set up my memory, create fan profiles, etc., without much trouble.
Overall I would recommend this one for the right price. I haven't had any issues with it at all.
