I have a pair of M-50X's and I'll be honest with you. They are the most comfortable, contractible (which comes in handy), inexpensive headphones you can get while still maintaining such a high level of quality. I paid $160 and received not only the headphones, but a hard-shell case, soft carrying pouch, and 3 removable cables of varying sizes. I can't recommend them enough to anyone looking for inexpensive producer/audiophile headphones.

The RM series is considered adequate as far as PSU's go. But if he's already experiencing trouble with it, I'd recommend dealing with it before it (possibly) whips out his system.
