I know the case isn't perfect as I would have liked to but need HDD storage. If I had the money, I probably replaced it with a few 5TB HDD since I know keep all of them in 10TB could nock out the drive with consistent reads would downgrade the drive more. Pretty much used every drive with different tv shows on them.

But with the motherboard I had was a ATX and it fit perfectly, yes small but it fit nicely.

Hopefully the prices will drop in the next couple days. :)

Update Build. Not sure what to use with my Ram for Plex server, thinking on getting 8GB sticks, which one is great without paying to much and without costing speed. Motherboard and CPU Cooler Great? could be improved? Budget is about roughly $600. But like to make it less. Something better than my previous server build of Asrock died in 2 yrs.

Try tonymacx86 site, they have tons of guides and other peoples post of there own mackintosh's, side forums but don't say anything of pcpartpicker on there forums, they're very picky, I've created 2.

i3 works but what you want is mostly on i5-i7 end of things.

Not sure if this is allowed here or not so I won't say much.

reason for old gen bc i don't see that much improvement comparing i7 4790K vs i5 6600K to just get it other than more the cost but similar to the same speed as the 4000 series. http://pcpartpicker.com/forums/topic/139075-brother-making-a-pc-opinions

ya, I kind went spending way over board with my build, diffidently with my graphics card, i had the money at the time so I got it, now it dropped a lot but i don't mind.

I like to give him the similar horse power like mine is, bump up the ram from mine, an awesome case, better ram than what i have (corsair vengeance 1600) to a pro 2400. Performance and cooling system for the motherboard (have a ASz87 MarkII), haven't used any other SSD besides Samsung Pro. speeds my shitiest laptop made in 2010, LOL

Not sure with graphics card and CPU cooling part yet. Really like to give him the best performance without being to costly with the graphics card, I'm helping him pay for this and hoping our dad would cover the rest. Looking at $1300 maybe a little more is fine.

He remembers how slow at the time of my Compaq pc back around 2005. Compaq 5000. and screams at his pc he got from best buy when i told him that building is better but understands now, plus his pc is AMD, i haven't used that kind of pc and is always Intel.

Same here man, its really a tuff son-of-a-gun & I love my Sabertooth and the specs it has for about 2-3 yrs now. the Sabertooth z87 Mark 1. altho I spent to much on my 1st graphics card at the time n i had then n i know i wouldn't have it later. http://pcpartpicker.com/b/YLt6Mp

Probably about 100x better maybe. Don't have money now but later by tax season if not sooner i will to build my parents 100x better pc.

2 builds a few weeks-month ago-- z97 http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Anthony21/saved/8KCtt6 z170 http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Anthony21/saved/yb6tt6

curios if i should get ddr4 or stick with ddr3, wanted to get something for my parents to be a lot faster and stronger than the AIO toshiba touchscreen pc i gave them 5-6yrs ago n now is become really crap. want to give them thats really $1200 than that aio peace of crap.

wish I could edit the specs like the old pcpartpicker used to be but now i can't edit my pc build bc I added 2 more 3TB.

Been pondering the same thing for a while. for me its between i7 4790K v i7 6600K.

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-4790K seems to be the 4790 has more Turbo Clocking & Overclocking & Maximum bandwidth than the 6gen

Is it really worth the extra $60-$80 to get the 6gen? Got a build here for next tax season for my parents. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/b9kX8d 5Gen Build

Didn't see much improvements between i7 4790k v i7 6700k. and was think staying with the 4790k. Not just bc they're both 4.0GHz but seen stats and bar graphs from trusted sources that theres really less on up for grabs that demands to really get the 6gen intel other than the 6gen is over price.

the pro ssd bc I have 3 of the 840 and never had issues with them yet. Looking for faster write & read speed than the evo.

Kind of surprise we're not seeing 5GHz for this generation, at least maybe not yet anyway but still surprise by it.

Anyone else?

thats ok, make sure you make a image of your system just incase whatever happens to your pc that you can revert to w/o having to install all your programs, good start amount with basic programs is about 22GB including all windows 7 updates, now it might be 25GB.

If you do however like to try out OS X, might spend some time on how to do it if you don't have an apple pc, didn't take me long to make a usb hackintosh thumb drive without having an apple pc, on my old laptop, easy way without having an apple pc is to download a mac vmware version for windows along with the patch for vmware windows to able to start the OS X, after that, its an easy process from there depending on how fast the pc/laptop is to make a thumb drive.

And spend a little time to stop it from either freezing up, problems booting up, safemode, verbos mode. best way to do it and help is to head over to http://tonymacx86.com. if you wanted amd, you gotta find another forum that does amd bc they won't accept talking on how to run on amd.

Only thing that kasperky kept showing as virus was the programs and hacks i do for windows which had no effect on an OS X Operating System.

I've been happy over 4yrs of being an OSX Hackintosh user. I use vmware fusion for what I need, not much games for steam on them but could also cause issues for being VM Which could also cause issues on the host pc itself for any slowness or anything.

Also may not use the graphics card on the VMware, so any hard games that's only on Windows, I would choose a dual boot in case and use Windows for those games.

Don't use an anti virus for osx bc it much slow your pc even thou its fast to run it, had issues when I use kaspersky for the hell of it.

In a way, yes. I haven't used a Pentium since Pentium 4 on our old Windows XP Dell Dimension e510 and that pc was a piece of crap that we always had problems with.

Wanted to use what I'm familiar with and so I made my 1st pc a few years ago to replace my slow laptop (founding out later it was the hard drive that was slow with an upgraded ssd to it) and so upgraded my 1st build and later made it into a hackintosh next to my windows 7.

Would've gone AMD but I've never used an AMD before other than it be $100 n some what cheaper and since tonymac86x don't do AMD's, I wasn't positive what other site is similar to tonymac86x support for AMD.

True there, after posting this, i was looking into the Asus z97 Pro with the nice built-in wi-fi/blutooth.

Power supply bc for better non waisting power and better than bronze, wasn't positive about the h100i. Wanted a nice graphics card and my dad doesn't do hard core gaming. me n my brothers tried gaming and sometimes the game would glitch up on online play a few years ago, just something better than relying on the cpu itself but then again, the graphics card you've displayed not bad either. I've never used sand disk and wasn't sure with it when i built mine and i'm happy with it, (like that saying goes: go with the flow that your comfortable with.) cpu with maybe a little over clock it to 4.1-4.2.

ps, been thinking on upgrading my psu so they would have that one, with the graphics card i have, i need a new one.

-better cable management to have better air flow could also do of the lag, -make sure the cpu cooler is in place, -1 or 2 power cords connect to the graphics card (depending what is has) -you should have gotten 2 ram sticks of 4 gigs to have a better speed if not 2x2 to match 8 gigs so each ram shares the speed & room for each ram without any issues.

::UPDATE::

For those who been following with this thread with a lot of views for something not much a big deal about.

I’ve testing out what works and what does work when installing Windows XP on a 4Gen board & Processor.

Anything that involves with cloning a vmware either from OSX Fushion or Windows VMWare, all you get is a half a second Windows XP boot screen and then the pc resets itself.

Put the Windows XP inside the CD/DVD Rom and load it up, what ya wanna do is if you like to have it there without formatting, chose the third option. It’ll create a new version of Windows XP on the hard drive but moved the old files in the old section but will still be able to access them loading up the new windows xp.

After that so far, It’ll give you two options to boot from, the one you clone (2nd option in DOS) won’t work bc it’ll reset the pc back to your motherboard bios splash screen.

Do the 1st option. It’ll load but you have to get windows updates and your drivers again and reload your programs, some may work but i thinks its worth just reinstalling them any.

But here’s this I discovered, when i tried cloning with Norton Ghost and some other third party program, I didn’t need the windows XP in the Rom but you will still have the boot drive in UEFI BIOS option under IDE. But besides that, it works.

I’m getting my CD/DVD/BD Rom between now up to two hours from the mail to test out again just booting the installation to the drive without the CD in it and with cloning it and if it boots on its own without the CD being there.
