I've been looking at a number of core V1 builds on pc partpicker and it seems that quite a few are keeping the intake fan and adding a raidator internally. for example: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/XVyfrH

As I said, you definitely inspired me and I see where you're coming from and really like a lot of your choices. I only prefer EVGA (have a 760 SC w/ acx myself) and think for a pound more its a good alternative. I also swapped out the 2 GeIL sticks for a single Kingston. It's a bit more... my reasoning being that if this machine would ever need a memory upgrade, it would be cheaper to add a single stick than to replace two. I agree with your ssd choice, 120GB will probably do, and if they need more space an additional hdd is cheap enough.

Honestly, I like what you've done!! Really like the case!! I get a kick out of it, let alone the kids! Did a quick google on the H81M-A board, the answer is ASUS with a BIOS update made it possible for their H series board to oc. Still not a great fan but if its as easy as you claim, I may give it a prod. Really hate to say it but the seasonic eco is NOT fully modular -- partpicker is wrong :O ! Have been tempted by the 750 Ti myself. Thank you for your messing. It's not disregarded and gave me a few ideas :) I'll see what I can come up with thanks to you ;-)

The build I'm drafting has a B85 motherboard, it supports 1333 and 1600. Would the cpu recognize the 1600mhz then?

Really like your suggestions!! However the BenQ has higher ratings and better reviews. I think I'll be sticking to that. Otherwise, I feel stupid for not considering the GTX 950's! Will be keeping an eye out for the MSI GTX 950 OC version as I love the aesthetics. Otherwise, thank you! +1

I'll be honest here. Not a fan of non-modular psu's at all and I hate to say this but the Seasonic Eco isn't modular either - partpicker is wrong :O I have no complaints with my CX600M in my own pc. I don't really see the problem with the CX series myself. I've read that they're mediocre but I haven't experienced issues.

I did a bit of research and the pentium may be twice the price but benchmarks more than twice as high as the A4-4000 I'd added. So here's a redraft: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

I would... I just don't trust anything that the business that builds his computers puts into their machine if it dies within 9 months at best.

EDIT: about 8 gb ram, I may do that it'd be within my budget

I will admit, this is very much what I had thought of at first. But didn't like the MSI H81M :P Predominantly due to it lacking a usb 3.0 connector. It'll be a pain to explain to him that the blue port on the front DOES. NOT. WORK.

EDIT: didn't see the 8b ram and the psu swap. I like my modular psu's.

Thank you for the reassurance about the usb 3, so if I went for 3 140mm Bitfenix Spectre Pro fans? Two in the front and one in the upper rear? That would suffice with the provided 120mm in place?

I'm thinking of getting the Aegis too, a white one. So I have a few questions. You added 3 120mm in the front and I'm wondering what the volume level is as well as temperatures? Next question is about the alchemy strip. I"m thinking of going for the same one, you chose 15cm, would you say that's more than enough?

I correct, while the cpu can have up to 32GB. The Mobo only 16GB, when it comes to memory, my pc has reached its cap.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Upgrade to 8GB or 16GB?"

No it does not support anything higher than 1333. It could be upgraded to 32GB but I think I'd sooner replace the whole pc now than upgrade the memory any further. And even then, that's in the long run. It's running smoothly and happily. Don't really wish to replace it until it starts struggling.

Thanks for all the advice over the past day! I've cleaned my pc and its running significantly cooler. I don't think I'll be replacing the stock cooler. But if I ever do, I will be going for the Alpine 11 GT Rev.2 thanks to you :D

Oh and PS: my pc really isn't the prettiest, it works and works well, that's what counts. So a prettier cpu cooler isn't what I'm itching for.

There is a fair amount of room in my case, but I'm not too confident if there is 6 inches of free space. So just to confirm, the Alpine 11 GT Rev. 2 is fine?

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Is my CPU running too hot?"

I'm not overclocking because as far as I know a xeon can't be oc'd and if it can I still won't be. I also cannot seem to get the Alpine 64 GT Rev. 2 in NL. So how does the Alpine 11 GT Rev. 2 compare to the CM Hyper 212 EVO? I know it's a bit more money in comparison, but the 212 evo isn't going to make my wallet cry either.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Is my CPU running too hot?"

Well, I will be cleaning it out today and seeing if it is just a dust seizure. If the temperatures drop to a nice level I won't tamper with it. I'd rather avoid applying thermal paste if I can because I've never done it before, I'm not refuting it though if it needs to be done. Concerning the cpu cooler, the fan is spinning as it should. And the dusting I had already considered doing that once every month or two from now on.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm quite confident that the 212 evo won't interfere with my memory as well as that I've got the room in my case for it. I also cannot seem to find the cryorig h7 available in my country (the netherlands, sorry there's no dutch forum). But yes, the first logical step is dust cleaning.

I hate to sound rude but you misinterpreted my post. Originally, I for some reason thought my pc had 16GB of DDR2 ram and not DDR3. I know that 4x4 is about equal to 2x8. This post is quite irrelevant after my revelation.

Upon looking into the CAS Latency in my machine I realize I seem to have brainfarted significantly. I don't have DDR-2 667Mhz as I for some reason thought... I looked into my computer and typed in the serial code of the 4 sticks of ram into google. Turns out I have 4x4GB DDR3-1333MHz with a CAS Latency of 9.
