there's no difference worth paying for. buy a 3700x and enable PBO, buy lunch for two days.

this is just the same build, one with an obviously better cpu within the same product stack. there's precious little to discuss or debate here. if you can afford the better zen2 cpu just do that, the end.

not worth it. just get a 9900k or dispell the myths your expert friends have been selling you with a better $300 cpu like the Ryzen 3700X.

no. there are workarounds, but none are worth it. you're limited to pci-e 2.0 and you should just buy a sata SSD.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/9t7p99/msi-meg-x570-unify-atx-am4-motherboard-meg-x570-unify the MSI X570 Unify is a good board. no rgb though. on another note, I'd get a different case, my brother just swapped to the Lian Li Lancool 2 from the H510 Elite due to size and temp issues. not a great case if you want a functional, roomy mid tower and your gpu there is huge and hot. it's more of a "show" case that's basically an updated S340. same size, thin and has only a single top fan mount. something like the P400A digital is a better compact case option than the H510 Elite.

you can't satisfy your goal with $300. newer i7/i9 range all cost more than that. then of course they can't go in your motherboard so you'd need a new one. and the 1070ti isn't gonna cut it if you wanna bump graphics settings.

the difference is nill. unnoticeable across the board. .not worth it tbh. you'd get more for that $15 buying a better motherboard, better variant of the gpu you want, ram with better timings or higher speed, a better chassis for the build, a better made psu, etc. that money would go further literally any and everywhere else in a pc than an identical cpu with 100mhz factory oc.

aside from the 3800X being less expensive somehow, there's never gonna be a good reason to buy it unless you cannot buy (as in sold out, out of stock, discontinued) a 3700X.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "is 350$ a fair price for a very gently used i7-5930k"

  • 1 point

absolutely not. unfortunately it's from an era where 8 cores was niche and a halo product. it's a 6 core that loses in every single benchmark to a $200 cpu that consumes less than half the power. you might as well hang onto it in my opinion. the resale for it is abysmal and not worth it unless you're in a serious pinch for some fast bill money.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "3800x is 35$ more than the 3700x on newegg.ca"

  • 1 point

absolutely not, no consideration necessary. in a full system literally everything else beside the cpu (in this case) could see actual gains spending $35 more. bigger psu of the same quality, higher tier motherboard (or one with better vrm components/thermals or more features), better aftermarket gpu, faster ram with better timings, case fans, better case, better cpu cooler, etc. the 3800X is flat out a waste of money unless it's the same price as the 3700X or the 3700X is out of stock.

hi. the B450 Tomohawk is perfect for this build and it comes with BIOS flashback feature, so no worries about compatibility. a few other points on this build list:

  • although the pure wings 2 are fine case fans for open designs, they will do almost nothing in that restrictive front intake. kind of flushing $22 extra imo. I'd go with the P400 digital instead.

  • you can and should do better than a CX psu if it's gonna be a non office build or something reasonably requiring >450 watts

this list is about $50 cheaper and a few things like power delivery and the case airflow are improved.

eh... very dated case with alot of small details overlooked by Corsair, even in revisions. I have one sitting behind me with most of a system in it since I've taken the 1080ti back and built a tiny router sized pc in the InWin chopin. it's fine I guess, though I do find it hard to recommend in 2018 with so many more user friendly cases that can do the same tings or more available. nothing about your build suggests the need for such a large tower.

just ditch 200 mm fan. poor static pressure, high power use. a pair of 140's is better in every single way.

very nice to here. it seems the front to back airflow and the top exhaust are much better in this updated evolv. although I'm noticing it comes with higher noise levels. the front panel being so spaced out is a trade off. but in my opinion worthwhile.

nice aesthetic, lot of LED but still looks classy. 85c max and 77c under 3d load for an hour on the gpu isn't too bad considering the vertical mount.

no. the location is too tailor made for 120mm width. I don't think a 140mm fan, let alone radiator which will be a bit wider, will even fit flush against the side mounts.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "is the Corsair - Carbide Series 275R good or not"

you're welcome. the airflow is so limited in this case, and in a $2600 build you shouldn't be concerned over getting a cheap case. get something that is best for the actual performance and life of the system. like something with proper ventilation.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "is the Corsair - Carbide Series 275R good or not"

don't like it with that gpu. 1080ti can dump alot of heat into a case, and something small and mostly closed off like the 275R wouldn't be my rec. meshify c, maybe the EVGA SC version of the card and for sure a 650 w psu.

the case comes with a 3-pin to pwm controlled fan hub for 6-9 fans. there are 2x 120/140mm fan mount on the case floor and yes, the psu cover is removable.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Stuck between two cases."

should make no difference. sometimes a full is better due to having more air volume inside the case so less heat cooped up near components.

750D airflow is larger, but has less finishing touches, lots of dead, empty space, less neat cable management and doesn't have a glass window. it's an acrylic that gets scratched easy. the Pro TG has much better cable management, better included fans, neater fit and finish, more flexible fan mounting, the case doesn't look horrible when the optical bays are populated like the 750D and actually has a glass panel. I own a Enthoo Luxe and original 750D so basically I have both cases. the Enthoo Pro TG is the better choice for your needs.

the Asrock X470 Master SLI/AC seems to be the best user reviewed X470 motherboard out. $149.99. of course it isn't perfect. lacks dual BIOS, no debug LED on board and has ALC 892 audio chipset. but it tends to work and seems to have excellent ram compatibility. it's only available on newegg though.
