This may seem stupid

Agreed. If it violates the code of content, report and move on. In any case, there's no need to escalate by venting back over something like that.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Mysterious Disappearance of BattoV2"

Hey guys, shortly before joining this site my friend told me that a user by the name of BattoV2 was making inappropriate comments.

If this is the case, then they were most likely banned. (With their content, including those inappropriate comments, deleted.)

Google currently has some cached results for a "Batto2" on this site, but that's about it.

In principle, yes, but not without heavy modifications to get all the voltages you need. May as well just use a legit 20/24 pin connector on an actual PSU, since you'd just be going back there anyways.

(There are some exceptions, including certain SFF systems using mini-STX motherboards.)

It can be tempting to assign disproportionate value to a downvote or two. With any system with voting like this, my advice is to treat one or two upvotes or downvotes as nothing more than noise. You'll never know why a random drive-by downvote occurs. A lot of times at person could simply be having a bad day, or they didn't like the way you phrased something or spelled a word.

There are a lot of arbitrary reasons to vote, and if there (sic) only one or two, it shouldn't hold much more importance than noise.

More high-quality FlexATX PSU options would also be nice.

My best advice is to COMPLETELY mess it up. Like to the point where people are still dealing with the fallout twenty or so years after you retire.

Sounds great in theory, but in reality, this could get them fired.

When confronted, just fall back on the "it wasn't my job in the first place" excuse. If that seems like a horrible idea only someone with no experience with bureaucracy outside of Dilbert cartoons could've come up with, well, you'd be absolutely correct.

Unfortunately, this sort of excuse isn't sufficient to cover your rear when employed at-will.

Completely uninstall existing graphics drivers.

Shut off and unplug the system, and physically remove the old card and install the new one.

Plug it back in, boot up, expect generic drivers and poor resolution. Install the new drivers.

Building your own would offer much more flexibility and value for the cost of components. (More performance options, more potential for expansion, etc.)

Buying a dedicated NAS would likely require less setup time.

These days, most don't support it effectively. In some games, you'd get a noticeable benefit, but others can even perform worse than with a single card.

Nope, do what works for you.

But Im not sure if I should do these things , because I feel that by not doing these things I'm missing out on life.

Nope.

I really don't know what to do, because most of the time a lot of the stereotypical "nights out with your mates" involve drinking and if I don't do that, how will I ever fit in?

Don't worry about it. If you don't want to do any of those things for yourself, don't bother. (And if you do want to do them, reconsider. Assuming you're in the U.S., you can get in quite a bit of trouble for doing some of the things you listed at your age.)

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Using Intel Integrated Graphics AND GeForce RTX 2070 together"

  • 1 point

for example, a Core i9 9900K and for example, an RTX 2070. In that example can you use the Intel Integrated Graphics of the CPU to power 1 display, and the RTX 2070 to power 1 or 2 other displays as well as do the GPU heavy lifting?

Yes. However, if you're not displaying anything graphically intensive on the additional monitor, and you're not butting up against limitations (such as the maximum number of monitors supported), the additional load on the 2070 by running that one extra monitor should be negligible in practice.

Using both Intel's integrated graphics and your 2070 requires you to have both drivers. This isn't too hard to navigate on Windows, but on Linux distributions (particularly more obscure ones with worse graphics drivers), this can be a royal pain in the rear.

It's the number one killer in history: Government.

Government, in the 20th century, according to a university study out of hawaii, killed ≈292 million people. It's called democide. Google it folks. "Democide."

There's not much point in taking a dual-enrollment course for topics at that level. If you were taking something that exceeds what is available at the high school, then dual-enrollment is more likely to be worth doing.

Unless your high school is particularly poor, their instructors are under greater scrutiny for teaching ability than those at the university (especially those that are tenured). Non-tenure-track lecturers may be concerned about teaching ability, and tenure-track professors might also be, depending on the priorities of the institution. (Not all tenure committees value course evaluations or other indications of teaching ability.)

Moreover, not all faculty enjoy teaching courses like that. Many are of the opinion that "College Algebra" and precalculus courses are meant as remedial coursework for students who are behind and did not take them in high school.

The worst part is that my teacher doesn't actually explain anything. They just do a single problem for every new topic/formula, and then quiz us. It's also not like we have any kind of textbook to learn from. I'm just so lost.

If you truly understand the concept, you should not need to do more than one example problem. Learning by repetition is inefficient. Generalizability is key. Once the general process has been introduced, minor problem variations in things like numerical substitution or solving for different quantities from those available should be trivial after the first algebra course.
