Nice simple, albeit expensive, build. Super jealous of that monitor........
I can't believe you got those three hybrids to fit! Awesome build, completely crammed but who cares. M.2 still blows my mind, here I thought I was cool for having an SSD.
You need to do your own research and educate yourself a bit. I'd suggest checking out benchmarks etc on "budget builds". You can find a ton of videos etc. on youtube.
Ah that's an idea. I wonder if I could make that work without it looking like crap. Thanks!
I'll have to take a picture tonight after work. It's quite a small gap! Terrifying :)
Looks just fine.
I actually just built a very similar computer using a 1060 instead of the 480 you mention. I did a mini-ITX build and I think it worked out great but case size is obviously dependent upon the user.
This setup is great if you don't plan to overclock so I'd say go for it!
Do you really need/have 8TBs of storage? Yikes.
Nice build for sure I'm not sure what your uses for this pc are but depending on that some of this may be overkill.
Nice and clean though, looks killer!
I just got a zotac 1060 a few weeks ago. I put notification email requests on all the major sites...newegg, ncix, etc....
I would do that in the interim but check amazon everyday and see if they happen to have any in stock. I happened to look at the right time and bought the 1060 immediately. When I was checking out there were 17 in stock, 10 minutes later they were sold out again so just periodically check. Other than getting lucky it's a waiting game.
Just look at the components with good reviews in the part list search. I don't know what speeds you're needing but if you are soaring at higher than 50mbs u/d I would get something nicer that can reach higher speeds.
I actually just bought a PCIE wifi card from rosewill and am returning it because it can't get up to the speeds I want. I spent $20 on it and am now buying an Asus adapter for $60....Need to pay a bit more for the capabilities.
I have an i5-6500. I run an air cooled system and on CSGO with everything maxed at 1440X900 I'm getting on average between 260-300 fps. The game isn't too demanding and like most games anything over 60 fps will be just fine so the 1060 is definitely over for CSGO.
A lefty gamer, what a freak! Ha just kidding. Great build. The case looks great and the whole build looks super clean and minimalistic, my style for sure.
That 950 PRO....awesome.
I just built a new pc and happened to get lucky and check Amazon at the exact point when the 1060 Zotac was in stock. I built a mini-itx and had no intention of using the smaller factor card but it just happened to work out well. I'd recommend the card to anyone. I paid $260 plus tax and shipping and I see 480s going for $250, but they won't be readily in stock for months. Price aside (even though they are both very similar) I'd go for the 1060. A lot of unbiased reviews support that claim, the only knock on the 1060 being that you can't run them in SLI, which very few people will do anyway.
Overall I'd recommend the 1060, runs quiet and cool so far, although I've only run CSGO and H1Z1.
Yeah this build seemed like a good start for being able to run 60fps on most games at decent settings. I don't need anything too fancy with regards to the MOBO so I may just stick with what I have and see how my temps are with the current set up. I'm not overclocking or anything do anything too intensive other than gaming for a few hours at a time. Should things start to run too hot I may look into how I can add more fans to my system.
I'll definitely explore your PSU argument some more. I'm getting the OS key from a buddy and using quite a few Amazon gift cards so I've got the money to spare. I also may just end up getting the GTX1060 if I can't get ahold of a 480 before the end of August. The cards seem pretty comparable and although people are saying the 480 will only cost $200, I think most place with inflate the prices to 250+ so a 1060 is right in there in terms of price.
Thanks for your thoughts!
I'm not sure why the link above has that case in it, I meant it to have the 100R by Corsair. Even so I'm sure you'd still suggest having two fans in and one out. This MOBO won't support the extra fans though will it? Don't I need for power fan connectors?
Do you have a compatible board that you'd recommend to accommodate the extra fans?
And yeah I can see your point about the PSU, I'll take a look into the savings associated with the high rated units. Thanks!
Thanks again for the reply. So I was actually researching last night and I think I will def go ahead and try for the 480 4GB. I see the 8GB in stock but I don't want to spend the extra $100 for it. So is there no cheaper CPU you'd recommend from AMD that is of similar performance to the IF-6400? I know the huge battle between AMD and Intel but it seems you can get a lot of performance for less with an AMD chip??? I'm not too confident in what I need from a MOBO but I've just been looking at ones that had good reviews with a decent price. Also is there anything specific I need out a wireless adapter? I figured they all run about the same, I'm not running Gigs up/down as far as speed goes but it needs to handle 100mbs ul/dl....
Thanks for your help.
Yeah, I have an external HD already so that's why I didn't include more storage. The CPU clocked high GHz, is an Intel that much better than AMD? Do you have a link to a 970 you'd recommend?
