The case only has one place to mount exhaust fans unfortunately, that's why I have the psu fan drawing air from the case
I think the issues are with the THICC II ULTRA. The GPU doesn't really go above 75, and the VRM temps hover around 92ish. I pop the front panel off when I'm gaming though because this case is absolute crap for airflow. Had the same issue when I was using an HD 7870 Ghz Edition.
Thank you sir! A SATA SSD is definitely next on my list. Just waiting for the right price.
Haha I know what you mean, I only had it up there for the photos, otherwise it's kept safely on the ground
How is the cpu cooling? I see you replaced PWM fan that came with the thermaltake cooler with the aigo fan , which i see are 3 pin.
simply put at least one filter in then
Could you possibly include the search bar in the top right of the part selection page as one of the parameters in your parametric algorithm? I notice I'm still able to use logical operators in the search bar, so having that along with the parametrics you guys implemented would be an incredibly powerful addition to the already incredibly powerful tool you guys have given to us!!!
Please upvote this!!!
that was just where i had it to test it. would never keep a pc in that giant dusthaven
Thanks man. I just put it in and it worked straight out of the box even though it was an older BIOS. It worked fine, played games okay etc..
I did update the BIOS though before I did any overclocking though.
HungrySpartan20 Evolved into..............HungrySpartan290X !!!!
Started overclocking. currently at 4.3 Stable, but using Prime 95 after 3 minutes temps hit 80 and i'm very uncomfortable with that. However this is only used for gaming.....and I've tested most of the games I play and the temps never go above 65C.......The bottlenecking in Far Cry 3 disappeared, runs beautifully now...Tempted to leave it...I have a temperature alarm set to go off if it hits 80
what do you guys think?
I see what you meant, it's a lot like mine. +1 for Budget Beasts!!!
i said the same thing when i was building it LOL
it could be worse...
single manly tear. I just had a moment of silence for your 7870
Yeah bro. As for the XFX 7870....check out my post here on Toms Hardware:
Mine would overheat like that too, it came from the factory with WAY TOO MUCH thermal paste on. When i took off the cooler off my card the thermal paste was CAKED onto the GPU die, so it was insulating the heat and not transferring it. Maybe that's what's causing you problems
all jokes aside though, cpu idles at around 43, mobo around 37. It should be fine, not like my aunt's gonna be rendering anything/playing any games. i figure passive cooling should be enough.
I got those new invisible quiet fans from corsair yo! they're the bomb!
me too...but i'm trying to be optimstic lol. In any case, so far so good.
thanks man. for what it's being used for i figured these should be just enough for the job
...you think it'll be fine as long as i don't add anything else?
Thanks man. I'll probably throw one in there in a week or 2.
That's how it came attached to the case so i just left it lol
LOL, and it works perfectly fine too
old school is the best school
some of what?
I think I have the older one than you, the 870 Extreme3. The manual says for dual channel you should use the same color slots...and they're beside each other.
Check out page 15 here: http://188.8.131.52/downloadsite/manual/870%20Extreme3.pdf
Thanks for looking out for a fellow builder tho!
