Now That's thinking so basic its brilliant. I'll try to determine if that's it .Your so right to start with the simplest possible explanation to solve the problem. thanks
Great idea. I started by moving the Music folder from C: to D:. I'll do the others too. I always had two drives in my other computers so I got used to that. I didn't really know the proper way to move certain folders using properties. Now I do. My hangup is mental. I just completed a build https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ose/saved/
and for the first time opted for two m.2 drives. Windows on the larger. maybe should have done it another way but it seems to be fine right now.
Also my case is the Q300L.
The link you provided is for the 500L
43.00 You get what you pay for
I liked the design compared to my other older cases. I may try to do a modification on the acrylic cover to give it some air holes too. Not just yet though. I don't want to screw that up yet.
that's a good idea. I one drilled a '----load' of holes in an older case panel that had no openings. At least the newer cases rectified that problem to some degree.
That's one of the things I like about this(3rd) computer.it's a micro case but there's plenty of open room inside due to no drives taking up half the space.just fans. If not for that I Would have went all modular on the power.
understood , true about the m.2 port sharing issue. THANKS. Your not the first to clue me in on the psu choice. My motivation was...Semi for price,600W minimum and basically price at the point of buying. I could have done that better.
thanks for that info. I see the AOC-G2590FX has great reviews .
thanks Im checking Acer KG24 (169) based on the comparison point. Mixed reviews . It comes with a DP cable. Im not sure the LG 24GL600F does. The LG dosent show any reviews yet also. I know Asus is a good name so there comparative monitor is a litttle more pricey.
Now I can learn something. Good to Know .thanks
No I didn't, and it WAS uninitialized. I just did now though. thanks for that great call. I didn't think I had to do that with an m.2 because my computer booted up and installed W10 On the first m.2 drive (intel). I didn't initialize that one.
Thanks. I can pull a gpu out of a Intel 2 computer I have so I can at least install Windows and do driver setups .thanks again
Shocking yet much appreciated info. I guess it should have been obvious, but I sure missed it. My older computers had me spoiled on that front. I was holding out to purchase the rtx2060 (when there's a price break. ) my options are now limited fer sure.
Thanks for that info. Fortunately I just figured out what the problem was. ….Human error. When I was installing the 2 8gb ram chips I found it a little odd because there is one movable snap\clip for each ram . My manual shows that both ends have a lock clip for each ram. bottom line is I did not have either chip properly locked in although it looked like it at the time. I should have use better lighting so I could have seen the problem. They are installed now and the system stays on. Thanks
Thanks Gilroar. I'm ok with it if its a known thing I was just concerned that I'm not doing something wrong. Yes there are 2 rubber pads. I like the case , its well worth 44 bucks. Ose
thanks for that info. My general question remains though. Is it normal for the power supply to not be flush with the back of the case and is it ok for the fan to be pointing down approx. 1\4 " from the bottom of the case.
thanks for that info,
thanks for the advice . Ose
thanks for that input. I'll make the change
The m.2 drive may be the next upgrade instead of the one I had listed. I am amazed at the size . that you would actually install an operating system on it. I still have 'old drive style mentality syndrome '.
Yes ,the cpu and mobo are purchased. I went by comparisons and reviews over and over again to end up settling on those when the prices came down. I feel comfortable with that anyway. I liked the fractal box except I got convinced to eliminate the internal drives as part of the equation. I also rather have my usb and other ports on the side rather than the top of the box. (dust consideration) I know I know dust? I like your suggestions . Ive been at those choices . Will consider. thanks
Im trying to keep it all under a grand. Id like to be able to experience some vr down the road. Aside from that (which in itself is Huge) ,the kind of games I have are oldies. Doom- up to date , Wolfenstein -up to date ,Portal, Rage .I'm currently using a standard monitor 1080- 60.
I get the point. I don't want to look back and wish I just got the
rtx a half year from now.
I will probably for now just install to an ssd drive. At some point in the future I may pick up an m.2 . Im trying to keep the cost of this build down. I'll enjoy it more. thanks for the good input
hopefully this link is correct,
Thanks for the logical advice. I DO appreciate it. I was hoping you would say, ' Sure ,40 bucks is the real going rate and the licenses work fine. No Problems. zero issues. '
I don't think I'll risk it.
Sounds good. I'll make that change. Thanks for All your advice
Thanks Mark. I'd be more into some VR use more than for games. I'm at Google cardboard plateau right now
I would like to experience VR, more than just for gaming. I'm at Google Cardboard level right now. I take it that the video card I have in my current parts list should be updated.
thanks again Mark. I get it now that the ASRock 450 Pro is the one when compared to the Asus as you have indicated previously. Happy new year by the way
Thanks Mark I just may now go with the asrock board. Good points.
As a funny memory that I was just reminded of, when I was buying a 'leading edge'386 computer way back in the day. I think it had a whopping 30 mb hard drive. The computer friend of mine at the time helped me set it up. He said 'you'll never use this much storage in your lifetime'. I know he was not talking about ram but it burnt in to my memory what he said. I believed it too at the time. Hil-larious
for example when I compare the msi b450 gaming plus I see an improved 3466 mem speed but a 32gb max mem max as compare with asus 3200 and 64 max. What I don't know is all else of which I do know there is to consider. I just rather lean towards the newer board or one with less of whats being phased out.Of these two (for example) im not sure which has more advantage in general.
Its hard not to take advantage of a cpu price break. Ive been trying to do just that . Im convinced the 1070 IS the way to go also. thanks for the advice
thanks Brett, Nice grouping. I have been slightly confused about the Rysen5 \7 choice. I would not need to play the best games out there. (still playing wolfenstein old blood) . I'd like to be able to do some vr at some point. Ryzen5 aye? That would get me to the place alright. I like the gtx 1070 also I suspect the gpu is extremely important to get the better one. I will really consider this all.
thanks , At least I see they can be compared
Thanks for the power source advice. I will take advantage of that change. I'm basically 10 feet away from my router so a USB WIFI will suffice for now as it does with another computer I have near. The W10 issue is perplexing. I'm inclined to download it to a USB via Microsoft and then 'get a key'\license. I will have to check the cost at the time for the
At most I will occasionally do video editing (if I do a video somewhere) Aside from that ….VR sounds interesting . Thanks for your help with this stuff
thanks for that info Live_Ammo. I get it like I should have figured this one out myself. I think a usb version would save an interior slot.
Im working up a micro setup and trying to get it under a grand . The idea is so that when I start messing around with VR , I'll have a system that will be ok for a few years at least. I've built a few pcs before (intel and amd) They are working fine so Im looking for more.
Interesting! I'm not in a rush on this project so I can get a better handle on it, thanks to your input.
thanks Cesar. I'll reconsider based on your advise.
Yeah Its now that it might be good to go to a retro computer show where there are baskets of ram that people are trying to get rid of cheap. thanks for checking
Yes my motherboard manual says that 8 gb is max. G31TM-P21 is the specific unit number. I hear ya. Dont spend on old stuff. If I could get the ram cheaper and knew it would be noticeable I might anyway because I built it and want it to remain functional . I'm not expecting this to drop dead anytime soon but you do never know . I recently built an amd computer so I'm into it I guess.
The system I built does work well so far. I just opted to buy the fastest ram that my mb supports. I may have just gotten lucky. I probably need to read up on ram so that if I Do get a bluescreen would have an idea why
yes xmp is my friend. thanks
Right to the source. Problem resolved .Thanks for the link. For my gigabyte mb I had to change the' Extreme Memory xmp' setting from auto to profile 1. The timing settings for my chips were already correct. Voltage was also already correct.
Will check about the XMP thanks
I'llcheck it out ,thanks
will do . Your right . thanks for the reply
This reply is after I have now completed the build . The computer is working well with no issues except one last thing to solve. I installed two, 4 gb 2133 mhz ram chips. Windows 7 is the operating system. My bios indicates the memory frequency to be hovering at 1597. Why might this be?
update:. the triangle on the plug indicates 'positive'. On mine that is a triangle figure on the side with the orange wire or red wire. I hope I got this info right.
