Great idea. I started by moving the Music folder from C: to D:. I'll do the others too. I always had two drives in my other computers so I got used to that. I didn't really know the proper way to move certain folders using properties. Now I do. My hangup is mental. I just completed a build https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ose/saved/ and for the first time opted for two m.2 drives. Windows on the larger. maybe should have done it another way but it seems to be fine right now.

Also my case is the Q300L. The link you provided is for the 500L https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6NI0yQXZnw 43.00 You get what you pay for I liked the design compared to my other older cases. I may try to do a modification on the acrylic cover to give it some air holes too. Not just yet though. I don't want to screw that up yet.

that's a good idea. I one drilled a '----load' of holes in an older case panel that had no openings. At least the newer cases rectified that problem to some degree.

That's one of the things I like about this(3rd) computer.it's a micro case but there's plenty of open room inside due to no drives taking up half the space.just fans. If not for that I Would have went all modular on the power.

Shocking yet much appreciated info. I guess it should have been obvious, but I sure missed it. My older computers had me spoiled on that front. I was holding out to purchase the rtx2060 (when there's a price break. ) my options are now limited fer sure.

Thanks for that info. Fortunately I just figured out what the problem was. ….Human error. When I was installing the 2 8gb ram chips I found it a little odd because there is one movable snap\clip for each ram . My manual shows that both ends have a lock clip for each ram. bottom line is I did not have either chip properly locked in although it looked like it at the time. I should have use better lighting so I could have seen the problem. They are installed now and the system stays on. Thanks Ose

The m.2 drive may be the next upgrade instead of the one I had listed. I am amazed at the size . that you would actually install an operating system on it. I still have 'old drive style mentality syndrome '.

Yes ,the cpu and mobo are purchased. I went by comparisons and reviews over and over again to end up settling on those when the prices came down. I feel comfortable with that anyway. I liked the fractal box except I got convinced to eliminate the internal drives as part of the equation. I also rather have my usb and other ports on the side rather than the top of the box. (dust consideration) I know I know dust? I like your suggestions . Ive been at those choices . Will consider. thanks

Thanks Mark I just may now go with the asrock board. Good points. As a funny memory that I was just reminded of, when I was buying a 'leading edge'386 computer way back in the day. I think it had a whopping 30 mb hard drive. The computer friend of mine at the time helped me set it up. He said 'you'll never use this much storage in your lifetime'. I know he was not talking about ram but it burnt in to my memory what he said. I believed it too at the time. Hil-larious

for example when I compare the msi b450 gaming plus I see an improved 3466 mem speed but a 32gb max mem max as compare with asus 3200 and 64 max. What I don't know is all else of which I do know there is to consider. I just rather lean towards the newer board or one with less of whats being phased out.Of these two (for example) im not sure which has more advantage in general.

thanks Brett, Nice grouping. I have been slightly confused about the Rysen5 \7 choice. I would not need to play the best games out there. (still playing wolfenstein old blood) . I'd like to be able to do some vr at some point. Ryzen5 aye? That would get me to the place alright. I like the gtx 1070 also I suspect the gpu is extremely important to get the better one. I will really consider this all.

Thanks for the power source advice. I will take advantage of that change. I'm basically 10 feet away from my router so a USB WIFI will suffice for now as it does with another computer I have near. The W10 issue is perplexing. I'm inclined to download it to a USB via Microsoft and then 'get a key'\license. I will have to check the cost at the time for the At most I will occasionally do video editing (if I do a video somewhere) Aside from that ….VR sounds interesting . Thanks for your help with this stuff ose

thanks for that info Live_Ammo. I get it like I should have figured this one out myself. I think a usb version would save an interior slot. Im working up a micro setup and trying to get it under a grand . The idea is so that when I start messing around with VR , I'll have a system that will be ok for a few years at least. I've built a few pcs before (intel and amd) They are working fine so Im looking for more. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ose/saved/

Yes my motherboard manual says that 8 gb is max. G31TM-P21 is the specific unit number. I hear ya. Dont spend on old stuff. If I could get the ram cheaper and knew it would be noticeable I might anyway because I built it and want it to remain functional . I'm not expecting this to drop dead anytime soon but you do never know . I recently built an amd computer so I'm into it I guess.
