It looks like we're unable to support Amazon UAE right now. To support an Amazon locale, we have to be able to sign up for the associates program in that locale. For UAE, it appears you have to be in Saudi Arabia, UAE, or Egypt. So unfortunately that rules us out being US-based. If they loosen that restriction later then we'll definitely sign up.

Our problem is generally with the behavior and not the person. So if someone gets banned and comes back and keeps at it, they'll get banned again whether we knew it was them or not. But if they come back and change their behavior because they realized what they were doing wasn't ok, that's a win. Or if they come back and begrudgingly act in a way that they don't get banned even though they don't like it or agree with it, that's also a win (for us).

I looked up the commit history for it - the initial commits went in for it July 17, 2013. It looks like it went live a few days after that.

The site went without any comments, private messages, or forums for several years. Comments and voting initially rolled out just for completed builds, and then forums came after that. The slow rollout was probably a good thing, because when I rolled out comments there was no moderation support at all. They very quickly got hammered by spammers, so basic moderation tools went in with an emergency deploy. Since then we've developed some better tooling to handle that stuff.

I can look into it, but I can't make any guarantee we'll be able to support it. There's a pretty decent amount of single-country-specific code we'd have to retrofit in our backend. If that can be done cleanly then I think we could do it - likely by adding EU as a separate country/region selector.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Recover saved parts list"

When viewing /list/ part lists, the history link is associated with your browser session. However, when viewing your saved part lists in your account, those URLs start with /user/Alonmishaelov/saved/. The history link there is associated with that saved part list.

If you closed your browser and it reset your history, you were viewing the /list/ part list history, and not the actual saved part list history.

Please read the rest of my comment, specifically this part:

It was starting to devolve into a bunch of people talking past each other.

The warning about posting stuff that's deliberately inflammatory relates to general comments as well as topics and applies to everyone here, not just you.

I deleted your topic. If you think that's censorship, too bad.

It was starting to devolve into a bunch of people talking past each other.

If you want to post topics where you actively listen and consider points of others, cool. If you want to treat topics like your personal soap box to be short with other people who disagree with you, then no, not cool. Take that somewhere else.

Most posts people can behave themselves and treat others with respect. But it seems like lately some of the political posts are having people from multiple sides lose their cool. So if it looks like it's getting out of hand all around, I'm probably going to delete it. If it's one user causing problems, they'll get warned. If it's a user that's been warned previously, maybe even was banned from previous accounts for similar reasons (ahem), then be warned that people could get banned in the process.

It's my house. You want to hang out here and chat? Cool. Just keep it polite and respectful. Don't post stuff that's deliberately inflammatory.

Yep! When viewing your saved part list, there's a "History" link. That'll be the history for that saved part list. You should be able to find the revision prior to saving over it.

If you'd like feedback on your potential part list, the Part List Opinions Wanted forum is the proper place to ask. Use a part list permalink or markup from this site, not Google Drive. Also, do not request feedback via direct email or PMs. Keep it public and in the forums.
