Ryzen 7 is for more than gaming, Ryzen 5 and 3 will handle it almost as well but at a lower price, since most games don't usally use more than 4-6 cores. One thing that kinda kicks Ryzen in the gut is that AMD is always lagging behind in single core performance, one thing that all games are affected by.
Concluding, Ryzen 7 can do gaming very well and much other things, but its not the best gaming CPU for the money since it lacks the single-core performance. Ryzen 3 and 5 would probably be ryzen 7 just cut down, so they would keep the same single-core performance and have less obsolete cores whilst reducing the price. That's my point, Ryzen 3 and 5 are the best bang for your buck game wise.
About the same performance from 300-500$ to 150-250$
we have to wait for ryzen 3 and 5 for gaming, ryzen 7 is for workstations.
Where's the VR headset?
great price 1080p and a possible QHD build, but you should have gone for a 6500 in my opinion to avoid any possible restraints in fps from the cpu side. Yeah bruh 1000 full build for QHD, times have changed indeed.
I don't think you will be able to fully use your 144hz monitor with a rx 480.
nice build bruh. +1.
yeah he -had- it.
Nice build +1. But did you even consider the rx 480 (strix) for 48 dollars less?
how much ram and how fast?
how do you boot it up without graphics?
but heat does. +1 for the effort.
...ikea fake plant... +1
well that processor has 4 threads and 8 cores,Zen is coming to save the day with 8 cores 16 threads and a monstruous +40% IPC. ZEN HYPE
look, skylake has more expensive ram and motherboards and btw you can get an i7-3820 for 100 bucks in ebay and a mobo for 150$ so you spend almost as much in a 4-5 year old cpu and mobo kit as you spend in just a 6700k.
+1000 got a ''new'' i7-920 and a rx480.
should have tried to squeeze in a 1070 reducing the psu , case, ram and surely by not buying 100 dollar os, just buy a digital copy for 20$ +1.
well he has good taste.
good build, overkill cooler, could have squeezed a FX-8320. +1.
Solid State Drive, my only answer. +1.
great build! +1
16 gigs of ram wow! +1
nice build +1. Advice: think three times before doing something.
then go for it mate!
i bet you can easily reach more than 4Ghz, ask google: i5 6600k overclock hyper 212 evo. I bet you will find something useful right away like a recommendation.
recently got my own i7 920. +1.
Look i don't think 40 degrees celsius is high. it's like room temperature some days in Brazil. Damaging the CPU would take at least 90 degrees celsius.
+1 just +1
The G3258 is pretty budget and haswell has loads of power eff. wait for another refresh or more cpu releases. I think the new 6th gen I3s will wreck the AMD apus and athlons finally.
Great Build! The Pentium G3258 and the 750 Ti mix like we say here on Brazil: It's like beans and rice! You probably dont need a water cooler
beacuse this cpu its just a dual core, maybe if it was clocked at 4.0 GHz base... A 212 EVO will work swell on it! Never go cheap on ram for a liq. cooler, any computer stands on three legs: RAM, CPU and GPU they must be equaly sized! Another 4GB dimm will cost like 10 bucks to make your graphics amazing!
You could squeeze a i5-4440 170-180 US$ which has 4 cores (amazing for games) even if it is a 4th gen you could get a cheaper motherboard, ram and get the same gpu for less: EVGA GeForce GTX 950 2GB Superclocked+ ACX 2.0 140-145 U$$.
Not criticizing your Skylake choice but 6th gen hasn't really put it's roots on ground yet and everyone is going crazy on it. Even a Pentium 4 and and Intel Core duo 2 can play modern games (crysis, gta, etc...) avg specs at 30 fps. Crazy right? !good setup! ;) adata are super cheap and quality SSDs, i got fooled by samsung and kingston all of my life (don't trust this V300 series!).
