for 1440p 2700x is fine and pretty much tied with 8700k, if it was 1080p then 8700k wins pretty easily

2080 will suffice for you, but don't just stick settings to max. In the games you play look for a guide, usually there is an official nvidia guide on the best settings to use without too much visual quality impact or even just find out yourself changing settings.

Since you have gsync it should be nice and smooth from about 90fps+ (in my experience).

They're close across the board when running at the same clock speeds but when it comes to higher clocks and better memory support the 2700 blasts the 1800x out the water when it can do 4.35, even 4.4 or just 4ghz but at significantly lower voltage. I've seen most 2700 run under 1.2v to get the same speed as an 1800x at 1.38v+.

If OP was streaming at all I would get the R5 because the hyperthreading makes a significant difference for that but I'm assuming that they won't be. Even at 5Ghz+ the 8600k struggles with streaming at the same or lower resolution/bit rate, not impossible but the R5 is far ahead.

I would recommend OP to get a 2600x if the price difference is large enough because its likely going to be 1080p 60hz but if its 1080p 144hz then the 8600k is better. The 2700(x) would probably cost too much for the 1k budget anyway.

1800x is slower than a 2700 in every aspect, it runs at a lower voltage or the same voltage but much higher clock (4.35-4 depending on chip. If OP needs the cores/thread then they could just get a 1700 but they don't. I'd probably go for a 2600 if OP went amd but should just get an 8600k because its only for gaming.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Do you need Freesync or GSync for 144hz?"

In my experience it makes a difference but I just put vsync on and its mostly fine. I went from gsync 1440p 165hz to 1080p 144hz but the vsync is good enough.

I use a CLC 280 on my 8700k at 5.2GHz 1.408v but I'm delidded, I could run it at 1.35v 5GHz before delid playing games. It sits about 65c delidded with the 5.2GHz oc with 1400rpm fan speed, you can go to about 1600 before it gets somewhat annoying but I use open back headphones. I'd definitely go for the 280 over the 240 for an 8700k.

It would be pretty stupid to go to anything else from the G703, I have a G403 (same as 703 without powerplay), it has the best sensor you can get and apart from extra buttons there isn't really anything better.

Logitech G703/G403/G900/G903, 603 has a slightly worse sensor but better battery life, but it also uses batteries and not a rechargeable one like any of the others I listed so for me its not even something I'd consider. I use the G403 and battery life is fine for me.

I disagree with driver support and the shadowplay/experience. I had Vega and I would have new drivers every week or two and AMD has Re-live which is the same thing as shadowplay, sometimes better and the Geforce Experience is just bad. I'm speaking from personal experience, I've had a 980 and 2 1080's (seperate times) and a 290/Vega and driver updates and the whole software experience is superior now imo.

PUBG No, almost nothing can I have vega 56 with v64 bios (just about a 1080) and I get between 40-140 at 1080p with lowest settings except for view distance at ultra mostly about 90fps though. Overwatch yes. Cod yes.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "144hz and freesync?"

Should I go with an AMD card to take advantage of the Freesync? IS the price difference worth it?

Yes.

Also, will there even be screen tearing at 144hz?

There is more than 60hz. You REALLY want to have freesync or gsync for 144hz.

The CPU is actually fine for it because the higher resolution the more it depends on the GPU. Going from a 1080 to 1080 ti makes a HUGE difference.
