Lettuce Mk. 2 Named after my trusty eBay computer Lettuce, Lettuce Mk. 2 is my first custom PC build. I'm extremely happy with how this build came out, I think it looks really clean for my first attempt, and the performance is great. So far I've run GTA V @90fps, Jedi Fallen Order max settings @80-90fps, and Doom 2016 max settings locked @200fps. I also got Minecraft to run @1100fps (although this was at minimum settings using the Sodium mod).

Building a PC was a lot harder than I expected. With everything I read about it being so easy, like 'adult legos', I went into the build thinking it would be no problem and only take a couple of hours. I still think its doable for anyone who does their research, however it took me more like 5 hours and a lot of looking over the manuals. It was well worth it thought.

In the future I plan on adding more fans, maybe an AIO, and at some point I might upgrade to 32gb 3600mhz ram.

Motherboard

Asus PRIME X570-P ATX AM4 Motherboard

Although this is my first build, I thought this motherboard was perfect. I haven't done any overclocking, so I can't speak for that, but I thought the build process was great and I didn't have any trouble with the bios. My only once concern is that the chipset fan is right next to the PCIe slot, so my graphics card completely blocks it. I don't know if this is common or what, but it hasn't really seemed to be an issue so far.

I've only had this for a few days but boy can it run games. It gets really freakin hot thought, 111c at the 'hotspot.' The internet says this is normal though, I haven't noticed any performance drops.

Looks good and works, however there was only double sided tape on the extender piece, not on the base piece. I pulled it off of the extender and put it on the base and it worked good enough.

You think 5 hours is a long time to complete a build, I started my current build 2 months ago and I'm still finding things to 'finish', tweak, adjust or tidy.

You'll never finish building it until you move on to your next build. ;)

It's a great build though, I love the purple blue colour scheme, it looks cool IMHO.

Haha I know, as soon as I finished I started planning all my upgrades and tweaks for the future. Also, I went into the build wanting to do a black and white theme, and only when I finished did I realize how cool it looks with all the white lights + the purple case lighting. Thank you!

Thank so much! I'm currently gaming at 1080p, but I'm overdue for a monitor upgrade. I'm probably gonna go for a 1440p monitor next. From what I've heard, this build should be able to handle that :)

I have been building computers on my own since I was 9 years old. I have completed over 50+ computer builds(used to own a company), and it still takes me upwards of 6-8 hours to complete a build. Someone might say something negative to that but meh.

You did a fantastic job! It is better to take things slow and steady to ensure its done correctly, no matter how much experience you may or may not have. Good job again on your build!!!👉🏿

Haha yeah that's good reassurance, thank you. I wasn't prepared for how much I had to stare at the manuals and try to figure out where things plug in. Don't get me wrong, I loved building it and I don't think it'll be my last.

I have the same 5700 XT and it ran hot out of the box just like yours. I'd recommend setting a custom fan curve in the Radeon software. Performane -> Tuning -> Fan Tuning to get there. Their default fan curve heavily favors silence over temperature, maxing out at ~45% fan speed. I found even changing it a little helps the temperatures at lot.

What is your solution for networking? the mobo doesnt seem to have wifi support...

I use a wifi extender as a ethernet access point. I've been doing that anyways since before this PC. It works well for me, although a better/cheaper solution would probably be a wifi card.

I built my pc a while ago and Im kind of slow, what can you use to control the RGB on your memory, I am using the same as you and I can't find the software and I think im just overlooking something thanks

Sorry I didn't see this until now! I control my RAM RGB with the lighting software for my motherboard. Its an Asus motherboard so im using Aura Sync. You should be able to control it with whatever your motherboard's RGB software is

Thank you! It is to stop sag, I sort of impulse bought it because I thought it looked cool. Its meant cover the power wires from the GPU, but I like my white wire extensions so I offset it a little.
